Purpose & Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Machinery Engineering Supervisor, the position requires an individual to proactively and independently provide the engineering and technical assurance support required primarily by Operations and Maintenance for the safe operation, diagnosis, repair, and enhancement of rotating equipment. In addition, the individual is required to support Turnarounds through the planning and execution phases and provides engineering support for capital projects.

Accountabilities:

The individual will work directly with Machinery Engineering peers, other departments including Maintenance, Operations, and Projects, as well as EPC’s, OEM’s, and vendors to drive the safe operation, diagnosis, repair, and enhancement of rotating equipment. They will:

  • Conduct daily proactive technical monitoring of rotating equipment (PI, Bentley Nevada, CSI, oil analysis)

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues

  • Conduct failure analyses and causal investigation of machinery failures

  • Determine intervals for equipment overhauls and inspections to support Maintenance and inspection plans

  • Provide work lists and repair scopes for machinery to support turnaround planning and execution

  • Define technical recommendations and associated business cases to deliver reliability improvement and cost management initiatives via changes to machinery operation, maintenance and design

  • Contribute to and review new installations, equipment modifications, and operating procedures through the management of change process

  • Provide engineering support to Projects in machinery specification, design reviews and equipment selection

Dimensions:

  • This position does not have any direct reports but requires a strong ability to provide leadership through influencing others

  • Minimal travel required for training, meetings, machinery shop performance testing and repairs

  • Some overtime required as dictated by project and / or operational needs

  • Minimum 4 years of Machinery Engineering experience, preferably at an operating oil and gas facility

  • Eligibility for registration with APEGA

  • Knowledge of rotating equipment engineering principles and industry standards for pumps, compressors, and turbines

  • Ability to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment with changing operational needs

  • Have strength and experience in managing multiple assignments in parallel

  • Have experience and ability to make business decisions that weigh technical considerations with cost, benefit, and risk in an operating facility

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead through influence

  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or any related fields

  • Minimum 4 years of Machinery Engineering experience, preferably at an operating oil and gas facility
