Magnet Re-designation December 2015 Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the RN: The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists the licensed staff with basic patient care functions. This includes, but is not limited to basic Activities of Daily Living – bathing, dressing, eating & toileting, as well as basic hygiene & safety measures such as maintaining a straight and orderly environment for the patient, removing waste as appropriate, linen changes and maintenance. The PCA also performs procedures such as vital signs, blood sugar checks, Foley maintenance, post-void residuals, urine collection, etc.
The Rehabilitation Patient Care Assistant utilizes optimal transfer techniques for patient transfers, assists with equipment procurement and cleaning and other duties necessary to meet the needs of the rehabilitation patient. The Rehabilitation Patient Care Assistant attends annual FIM training and testing with satisfactory score, and acquires same within 30days of hire.

High School Diploma/GED and either
Student Nurse (nurse exam) who is currently enrolled in Nursing School
Individual with 1-2 years previous technician experience
Basic keyboarding skills
Ability to work with others
Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
