Summary of Internship

The Threat Management Center (TMC) Internship position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a computer science, computer engineering or cyber security degree to get hands on work experience working with analysts in a fast-paced threat management environment. The TMC Intern will contribute to the core work streams within the group Threat Hunting, Threat Intelligence, Digital Forensics, Incident Response (DFIR) and Vulnerability Management. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exist for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

Essential Functions

  • Support the Threat Management Center (TMC) team and it daily response to incidents and requests.

  • Support the Security Operations Center incident response and investigations.

  • Provide feedback on playbooks and procedures developed by the TMC.

  • Learn about current cyber threats and how to stop them through daily activities.

  • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements.

  • Specific tasks will be tailored to the TMC interns experience level and abilities.

  • A TMC intern works under the close supervision of the senior and junior TMC analysts.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of security log analysis and detection capabilities

  • Knowledge of the principal methods, procedures, and techniques of gathering information and producing, reporting, and sharing findings with others

  • Knowledge in all major Operating Systems Platforms (Windows, Linux/Unix, Mac)

  • Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to work in a diverse global team of security professionals

Qualifications

  • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a ABET accredited degree in a cyber security or computer related engineering discipline

  • Computer science or computer engineering, or cyber security field

  • General cyber security knowledge preferred
