The IBM QRadar product lines are the leading SIEM in the market place. Our IBM Security development group is seeking a senior member to join our growing team in Fredericton, NB
The Senior Test Specialist is an advocate for software quality for the organization as a whole. You will be instrumental in driving overarching quality improvements across the organization, in part by developing reusable and precise test strategies, tools, processes, and standards. You will also be responsible for designing, creating, implementing, and maintaining test plans, cases and automation for our product(s) as well as investigating and assisting junior testers in the analysis and resolution of defects in delivered software components.
What You'll Do:
Identify, evaluate and recommend testing process and tools supporting software engineering best practices in an agile, multi-team environment
Participate in the design and development of a common, scalable, reusable, easy-to-maintain and effective test automation and execution framework
Embrace a culture of accountability for ensuring the system has minimal defects and adheres to company standards; including tracking test coverage and performance, while investigating and understanding production defect patterns
Define and execute software testing processes and maintain an exceptional level of quality, efficiency, and effectiveness in the deliverables of each product release cycle
Define, document & maintain test cases in a centralized repository
Document software issues and enhancement requests and assist development teams with concise and detailed steps for duplication of the defects found while performing manual and automated functional, integration, and regression tests
Maintain a professional, and energetic presence; helping set the tone for the team as a whole and mentoring junior team members in testing best practices
Clearly and effectively communicate, while contributing to an environment focused on cooperation, collaboration, and conflict resolution
Develop and execute automated tests, and manual test cases and investigate and assist in analysis, as well as the resolution of problem in delivered software components
This role will involve working with technology that is covered by embargo Export Regulations. If you are a Foreign National from any of the following embargoed countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria) on a work permit you are not eligible for employment in this position.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience is required
5+ years of experience championing software quality (both manual and automation testing required)
Direct experience as a software quality advocate and advisor to the product development team
English fluency (written and spoken)
Forward thinking with a strong desire for continuous improvement of processes, self and others with the ability to communicate suggestions in a constructive and encouraging manner
Strong personal commitment to quality
Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and be flexible within a fast-paced environment
Superior organizational skills, with attention to detail and follow-through on tasks,
Proven success in a team environment, experience mentoring colleagues is an asset.
Vocal in raising risks and problems as well as suggestions for mitigations and resolutions
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
4+ years of experience working with business leaders, developers, customers and end users on a frequent basis
Familiarity with agile methodologies and practices such as Lean or Scrum
5+ years of experience with one or more test case management, bug tracking and test automation tools required
Knowledge of Unit testing and Continuous Integration is strongly desired
Strong knowledge of Database development tools and concepts (PostgreSQL preferred)
Experience with API testing
Experience with UI automation tools like GEB, Selenium, etc.
