We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Environmental Engineer with our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Geismar, Louisiana.
Essential Job Duties:
Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and or transport our products, as our highest priority.

Assure compliance to PSM standards (MOC’s, PSSR’s, Procedures, Audits, etc.)Participates in programs, practices, and or procedures developed to ensure a safe, environmentally sound, and financially responsible workplace.
Insures all environmental permits, licenses, exemptions, etc. necessary for operation of the facility are obtained and properly maintained.
Develops and implements procedures and plans to assure plant compliance with applicable governmental regulations and permits.
Keeps abreast of existing and proposed laws/regulations and informs line and staff personnel of impacts on or necessary changes to plant operations.
Continually assesses plant environmental performance and evaluates the effectiveness of environmental programs.
Identifies plant environmental issues and establishes action programs to address. Assists in planning for long-range environmental improvement of the plant.
Coordinates compliance inspections and responses to governmental inquires in the environmental area.
Oversees implementation of Corporate environmental programs at the plant level.
Plays a leading role in the plant’s Emergency Response and Outreach Programs in the community (Responsible Care, etc.)
Works with various plant groups offering guidance regarding environmental control requirements necessary for plant modifications or environmental improvement plans.
Develops processes and systems to collect and calculate data to document environmental performance.
Provides necessary data and reports to regulatory agencies in a complete and timely manner.
Maintains an effective working relationship with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Is an effective liaison with corporate environmental, legal, and other groups.
Maintains environmental records per regulatory, corporate, and legal requirements.
Bachelor's degree (Chemical, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science), with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in the environmental field.
Working knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.
High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, write and speak in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
