We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Mechanical Integrity Inspector with our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Geismar, Louisiana.
Essential Job Duties:
Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
Assure compliance with ASME, API, NACE, ACC, and the Chlorine Institute inspection guidelines for existing and new plant equipment and components.
Establish and implement the Fixed Equipment Inspection Program in accordance with company guidelines, codes, and governmental regulations.
Analyze inspection-staffing requirements, and make recommendations based on this assessment. Assign/provide direction for 1-20 Oxy or contract inspection/technical personnel to meet the Maintenance Department workload.
Track the cost of inspection services impacting the plant.
Develop and communicate inspection plans and schedules to the production and maintenance organizations.
Gather and interpret inspection data. Make recommendations regarding equipment integrity based upon this data.
Interpret and correctly apply various inspection or construction codes and procedures.
Perform basic engineering code calculations.
Regularly present to plant leadership and other team members inspection results and plans in both written and oral form.
Review and initiate SAP Work Notifications to correct deficiencies found during the inspection process.
Organize and maintain accurate and complete inspection records for the plant’s piping and equipment. Audit the inspection database and inspection files at least monthly to ensure the piping and equipment inspections are completed as they become due.
Serve as the liaison for any State Boiler Inspector activities.
Maintain a working knowledge of materials of construction and fabrication techniques.
Perform both in-plant and off-sight fabrication shop inspections to ensure proper fabrication techniques and practices are being followed. Perform periodic evaluations/audits of fabrication shops to ensure they are qualified for new or continued project use.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access.
Manage the plant’s inspection software (UltraPIPE) and become a core user.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge and/or competence in the use of various inspection tools/techniques including, but not limited to, D-meter, ultraprobe instrument, dye penetrant examination, radiograph interpretation, magnetic particle inspection, nuclear analyzer, borescope, Iris technique, and various inspection hand tools.
Maintain all appropriate inspection drawings, files, equipment records and logs, specifications for inspection group.
Assist in planning outages or major repair work with maintenance and production.
Assist maintenance engineers on special projects, and assist on specifications.
Support the Process Safety and Risk Management goals and objectives. Participate in site-wide process safety and risk reduction activities as requested. Look for opportunities to be the ‘fresh set of eyes’ in this area.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
At least five (5) years of plant inspection experience and experience with at least one of the following Inspection Certificates: API-510, 570 or 653.
Required ASNT Level II certification in generally used inspection techniques.
Technical inspection procedure knowledge.
Experience presenting inspection results and plans to plant leadership and other team members.
Technical knowledge (formal or on-the-job) required to obtain required certifications listed above or as described in the “Job Duties” section.
Construction code (ASME, TEMA) and inspection code (API) knowledge and training also required.
Ability to effectively function in a team environment as well as work independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal Protective Equipment including the use of a respirator.
Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
