Occidental Petroleum Reliability Maintenance Superintendent in Geismar, Louisiana

Assure compliance to PSM standards (MOC’s, PSSR’s, Procedures, Audits, etc.)
Administer and develop the plant inspection program. Develop equipment inspection frequencies and what specific stops to take during each inspection, document equipment / material performance, corrosion rates, establish classification of failures when necessary, recommend control measures and issue reports for replacement / repair.
Assure plant compliance with ASME, API, NACE, ACC, Chlorine Institute, and PSM guidelines for preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, and mechanical integrity compliance for existing and new plant equipment.
Review and approve all inspection results and recommend proper course of action.
Approve all repair plans for static and rotating equipment.
Ensures that all required non-destructive and destructive testing is conducted in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.
Develops, implements, and evaluates preventative maintenance programs.
Consults with resident contractors, Oxy maintenance, and outside service groups on capital and maintenance projects.
Maintains all appropriate inspection drawings, files, and specifications as required.
Evaluates, designs, and recommends changes in maintenance activities to increase reliability of existing equipment, reduce repair costs, and minimize product interruptions.
Directs the Reliability Engineering group in a manner that ensures that continuous improvement is made in the area of maintenance cost reductions and equipment availability.
Provides direct assignments to the Reliability Engineering group to achieve the department’s goals and objectives.
Reviews and approves proposed improvements by the reliability engineers.
Provides technical support to the reliability engineers, other plant engineers, maintenance, production personnel and project engineering.
Assures that the plant’s PdM program adequately monitors the condition of the plant’s equipment to ensure safe operation and predict impending failures before they occur.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the Reliability Group by trending several indices that measure cost reduction and on-stream time.
Advises plant engineers and prepares specifications for major equipment.
Manage and administer the plant safety relief device program.
Manage and direct QA/QC inspection activities for routine maintenance, capital and major maintenance, and turnaround activities.
Provide off plant inspection / vendor surveillance for all shop fabricated equipment.
Manage the plant QA/QC process for painting and insulation activities.
Manage the plant weld tracking program.
Promote all plant environmental and safety policies.
Act as database owner for plant engineering standards and implement improvements/modifications based on site-specific issues and/or Oxy corporate engineering guidelines.
Oversee Geismar plant mechanical seal fixed-fee program, including implementation of alliance with vendor, continuous monitoring of MTBF data, implementation of improvement recommendations, etc.
B.S. Degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 yrs of plant maintenance/manufacturing experience.
Ability to manage costs, design, implement, and maintain systems designed to optimize the performance of the maintenance function.
High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, write and speak in English
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
