The Legal Counsel will be part of a regional segment team for the Commercial & Consumer practice in Asia, supporting its business operations on legal, compliance and contract matters and based in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will report to the Regional Leader, Technical Services for the segment with matrix reporting to the to Head of Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs for Marsh Asia. This is a new role for the organization and will be based in Hong Kong. Key Responsibilities Review, drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts and other legal documents related to the company and affiliated companies’ businesses; Analyzing a broad range of complex laws and regulations across Asia affecting the operations of the segment; Identifying and understanding in projects the roles and responsibilities of various parties involved, the transaction structure, the payment flow and all related materials in order to advise colleagues appropriately the related legal and compliance implications; Providing legal and compliance advice to internal business colleagues and country segment leaders on new and renewal business initiatives, legal issues generally, including advising on the legal / regulatory / contractual implications of commercial business decisions (i.e. business / legal counselling and common sense advising), and compliance related issues; Reviewing regulations/ directives and global/regional policies internally; and support developing of procedures, policies, processes and training as they relate to the segment and in alignment with the LCPA function in conjunction with all internal and external standards and regulations within the country; Managing the process to prepare content to assist with reviewing all Third-Party Provider submissions, renewals and payments for compliance with company policy and procedures, including timeliness of submissions and renewals, prior to TPP engagement as they relate to the segment; Working closely with regional heads of finance, human resources and compliance in relations to reviewing business practices/ corporate structures, training and investigations; Supporting and implementing LCPA efforts for the company and promoting an ethical and legally compliant business culture for the segment. Skills & Knowledge: Recognized legal qualifications from HK and/or Canada, UK, US, Australia with 6-10 years PQE Experience in working in-house with MNC or a reputable law firm with the responsibility for review, drafting and negotiation of documentation. Experience in dealing with laws / regulations in different (ideally Asian) jurisdictions Possesses good communication and interpersonal skill as well as excellent drafting and organizational skills Mature with strong commercial and common sense, analytical, detail orientated and enthusiastic working attitude Work under pressure and adaptable to dynamic changing environment Excellent command of both written and spoken English Attractive remuneration and incentives will be offered to the right candidate.
