Eaton Corporation Lead Design Engineer in Golden, Colorado
Eaton Corporation’s Research and Technology (CRT) has the position located in Golden CO for the Power Systems Technologies, Integrated Energy Solutions team. .
The position is for a technologist for labs hardware and software support at CRT’s Golden facility. The technologist will manage the lab under minimal supervision, assembles, wires and documents prototype electrical, mechanical, and electronic components or experimental test systems under the direction of project engineers. Participates in the design process, documents system designs and develops test plans, records data, and provides detailed written test reports. The technologist will also help in controller configuration and similar soft functions. The selected person performs functions as necessary to support all research and maintenance activities required in the CRT laboratory and interfaces with both customers and suppliers that will be visiting the lab.
For multiple projects, analyze each assigned project with the project engineer/leader to reach an understanding of the project plan and goals, organize and execute assigned project tasks. Including procuring project materials and engaging with vendors/suppliers.
Evaluates results during test and iterative design process, reporting and clearly communicating conclusions to the project engineer(s) either verbally or in writing.
Takes a proactive role in providing recommendations, based on test results, experience and observations, to improve prototype function or integrity throughout the development stages.
Manages laboratory infrastructure including purchase of supplies and safety equipment.
Fully understands the capabilities, use, and care of available equipment and instrumentation.
Maintains an understanding of new technologies as appropriate for future programs. Researches and recommends new test equipment to improve lab functional capabilities.
Establishes a close working relationship with project engineers/leads and peers. A good team member that is able to understand and use information from others to achieve a common goal.
Associate Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Technology from an accredited institution
8 years of product development experience or equivalent.
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Technology from an accredited institution
Electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software aptitude is required.
Detailed skill in use of computer for test documentation, schematic capture and circuit board design.
Experience in developing projects following traditional development processes
Able to use programming skills to develop automated instrument control and data acquisition programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, LabView, etc.).
Ability to advise project engineers/leads on necessary testing to validate operation of prototype hardware and develop test plans, procedures and test beds accordingly.
Ability to work with program management to complete tasks within project budget and schedule.
Must have good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with little to no supervision.
Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
