Eaton Corporate Research and Technology (CRT) is a global research business that has an exciting and rewarding opening for a Senior Power Systems Engineer. CRT engineers initiate and lead innovation programs supporting growth strategies of Eaton’s businesses. This role will be located at our Golden CO facility.
The CRT focuses on the front-end of innovation by: conducting research to advance the state-of-the-art, emphasizing cross-business impact technologies, and monetizing valuable novelties to provide Eaton’s customers with safe, efficient, and reliable power management solutions.

Essential functions for this position include:
Perform and/or direct activities including simulation, modeling, and field demonstration implementations of integrated energy applications including (but not limited to) microgrids, mobile energy systems, data centers, building networks, and distribution networks
Develop innovative solutions by applying cutting-edge techniques including advanced data analytics, forecasting, machine learning, optimization and predictive control; apply techniques primarily to energy and power system applications
Lead and contribute to integrated power systems technology projects that are focused on delivering an enhanced and unique Eaton customer experience
Assist with or lead the creation of detailed project plans; collaborate with Eaton program managers to manage and track project progress
Collaborate with business partners to create compelling business cases and acquire funding or resources to advance commercial applications of CRT technologies.
Serves as Principal Investigator in government proposal preparation and project execution
Identify, initiate and create partnership projects with universities and research institutes
Provide mentorship to project engineers as well as peers
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
A foundational understanding of data analysis, probability and statistics, and control theory
Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Proven track record in leading new technology or product introduction projects with strong project management skills
Recognized as a subject matter expert. Has demonstrated ability to present a technical presentation or publish in a technical journal or to an audience of technical/industry peers.
Experience developing applications using rapid-prototyping devices and platforms such as Matlab/Simulink, HIL platforms, National Instruments, Arduino, etc.
10+ years of power systems modeling and analysis with strong electrical power system domain knowledge
PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent technical field from an accredited institution
Experience in deploying production analytics platforms, machine learning, and/or advanced automation control system solutions from concept to implementation.
Expert software development skills in one or more high level languages (C#/C/C++/Java/Python).
Proven track record of IP generation and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Able to drive strong business case with key stakeholders; ability to understand and formulate compelling value propositions.
