Eaton Corporation Master Designer in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Eaton’s Aerospace Fuel Motion Control Systems Division is seeking a Master Designer. The Master Designer will be based in Grand Rapids, MI.
The Master Designer will be responsible for creating engineering 3D CAD models using Catia V5 & Pro-E tools for new products, complete detail drawing packages for new products, perform tolerance stack-up analysis on new designs, updating current production drawing packages and 3D CAD models by writing and incorporating Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s). Work with Designers at global sites/locations for licensing Drawings and documents through ENOVIA.
Create engineering 3D CAD models for new products. Generate layouts, drawings and sketches for fabrication of Engineering Development, prototypes, and components for testing.
Complete detail drawing packages for new products utilizing applicable government standards and industry standards, primarily, ANSI Y14.5M-1994, MIL-STD-100, Eaton Design Engineering Standards Manual.
Perform GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis and basic engineering analysis to support DFM, DFA, DTC, FEA and weight controls on new designs.
Updating current production drawing packages and 3D CAD models by writing and incorporating Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) utilizing manual drawing techniques as well as CAD. Submit revised CAD data to the Enovia CAD database and release for production.
Verify envelope & dimensional constraints are met, assign density properties to parts, calculate weight and center of gravity. Create drawings & PDF’s (Source Control Drawing, Envelope, Top Level Assembly, Subassembly and Component Drawings) and 3D views/illustrations for presentations as needed by Engineering. Create .IGES or .STP files of 3D CAD Assembly to submit to customers as requested.
Support Mechanical, Electronic, and Electrical Design groups in generating drawings and sketches for fabrication of Engineering Development, prototypes, and components for testing.
Support and assist Sustaining Engineering efforts through drawing problem resolution, dimensional analysis and ECO generation. Analyze effects of replacing, improving or correcting existing production units. Design solutions for existing parts affected by new component(s). Create/update tolerance stacks, implement drawing revisions through Enovia CAD database and drawing release.
Work with designers at global locations licensing drawings, documents through ENOVIA database. Submit work packages using engineering work-orders, drawing/ECO markups. Review work performed, route for signature loops with engineering and release into ENOVIA database.
Work with Finite Element Analysis Engineer to create/modify parts/assemblies that are needed for FEA. This includes discussing objectives, modify or recreate simplified models/assemblies to minimize analysis processing time.
Perform quality checking on drawings using the 30 and 60 point checklists to increase First Pass Yield and reduce DPPM.
Experience with Pro-Engineer required and additional experience in CATIA is desired.
Associates degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Experience with Pro/Engineer Wildfire.
Minimum of 7 years of designing experience.
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Grand Rapids, MI will be considered.
Experience with CATIA desired.
Knowledge of commercial & military specifications (DoD, FAA, Air Force, Navy, Army, Boeing, Lockheed Specifications)
Experience with Machined, Cast & Forged parts/components and Metal fabrication & Joining process.
Must have strong GD&T dimensioning and Tolerancing skills.
Must have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, while performing multiple tasks.
Ability to reprioritize and refocus efforts at short notice. Must have the ability to communicate technical information, whether written or verbal to other functional departments throughout the organization as well as outside vendors and contractors.
