Senior Automation Engineer


This role is located at our Greenville, North Carolina site. Relocation assistance has been approved for the successful candidate.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide high quality engineering services to meet all present and future company engineering needs. Acquire, develop and use superior technology and techniques to achieve high standards of quality and efficiency. Carry out all phases of project activity in a timely and cost effective manner.


  • Conduct engineering assignments requiring creativity to analyze situations and select appropriate course of action.

  • Manage multiple large projects/assignments simultaneously with substantial design outside discipline.

  • Analyze the data and facts concerning engineering assignments and develop a scope of work based upon broad engineering principles and established methods in effect in the industry which is consistent with the Company’s standards and specifications.

  • Establish and maintain technical time, and cost objectives for projects using project specifications.

  • Oversee the design/drafting of new engineering drawings or update existing drawings. Prepares or ensure the preparation of engineering construction specifications.

  • Ensure all cGMPs, safety practices, applicable codes, engineering standards, laws and insurance requirements are met in the design, construction, start up and qualification of assigned projects.

  • Oversee co-op student on a project basis.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Act as single point of contact for assigned area. Able to address or contact needed resources to resolve issues. Provide technical guidance for cross function team.

  • Serve as SME for equipment and provide training for co-workers.

  • Write and review technical documents such as SOPs, SDS, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and IQ/OQ validation.


-Masters and 3 years experience OR BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline plus 5 years relevant experience

-Experience in the development and support of computerized automation systems and networks.

Knowledge in programming , troubleshooting, and maintaining PLCs, HMI, and Scada systems. Preferred knowledge on RsLogix 5000, Wonderware, and Factory Talk View SE.

Knowledge on technologies such as Automated filling, Sterilization, and Lyophilization.

Experience in troubleshooting issues to root cause and recommending or implementing corrective action.

Proficent with Microsoft office software such as word, excel, powerpoint, and access.

Knowledge in IT infrastructure and virtulization technology.
