Eaton Corporation Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer/Specialist in Greenwood, South Carolina

Eaton in Greenwood, SC is hiring for an EHS Engineer/Specialist.

This role is responsible for assisting with the implementation and deployment of Safety initiatives, goals, metrics and compliance programs and activities for the facility. Provide EHS leadership and oversight activity for facility projects, changes and upgrades requiring resourcefulness, teamwork and building relationships and partnerships with other functional team leaders and project managers to achieve effective results. Provide annual analysis of safety and environmental risks and remedies.

  • Champion and lead projects designed to effectively drive improvements in our “Zero Incident Safety Culture” program(s). Monitor the following critical components for our facilities, such as:

  • Critical machine guarding compliance to European standards

  • Electrical safe work practices

  • Confined space entry process

  • Lock out tag out process

  • Lead the design, implementation and achievement of annual safety and environmental targets and metrics to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.

  • Partner with other functional support engineering teams to ensure all plant projects, changes, upgrades and modifications adhere to and meet the ProLaunch and MESH “Change Management” processes

  • Assist Operational Excellence engineering team with building and grounds capital projects as required

  • Provide leadership for security of the buildings and grounds

  • Provide leadership and guidance to functional managers and their employees for WC claim resolution and workplace process improvements and accident prevention

  • Maintain site certifications; ensure accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics and closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings, and assist with intermediate communication with public/government authorities.

  • Assist in providing guidance and lead resolutions actions during crises. Is available 24/7 for consultation, guidance and remediation.

  • Lead annual risk assessment analysis to determine risk levels and compliance opportunities.

  • Lead annual assessment to determine leading/lagging indicators and track performance.

  • Works with leadership team and MESH element champions to complete annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state and local regulations.

  • Implements and provides guidance and oversight to employee led safety teams

  • Interacts and partners with local functional managers to execute programs and projects

  • Become certified as a MESH assessor and participate on assessment teams to further develop critical safety and environmental knowledge and benchmark for best practices.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) OR a manufacturing environment is required

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical), or Environmental Health and Safety from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) in a manufacturing environment

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Understands OSHA regulations

  • Lean Fundamentals understanding

  • Understanding of ISO standards

  • Experience with workers compensation

  • Demonstrated experience with safety programs

  • Ergonomics experience

  • Proven track record of safety metric performance and improvement
