Eaton Corporation Production Tester-Electrical Designer in Greenwood, South Carolina

Eaton is seeking a Production Tester-Electrical Designer to join our team in Greenwood, SC!

The Production Tester-Electrical Designer will prepare and modify electrical drawings, including electric schematics, wiring diagrams, and three line diagrams for distribution and control products to include medium & low voltage assemblies, RPR2, components, and all associated components; perform complete electrical tests on assemblies and components to ensure conformance with required specifications and performance characteristics; diagnose and correct difficult circuitry in assemblies requiring the analysis and evaluation of many component variables.

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively use test consoles, electrical meters, various electrical and electronic test equipment, hand tools, handling equipment, alignment equipment, gauges, mechanical measuring and fitting equipment, and other products or product components to ensure products meet customer specifications.

  • Perform production tests using wire diagrams, schematics, sketches, and manufacturing information for medium & low voltage assemblies, RPR2, components, and all associated components.

  • Set up all test equipment and conduct special tests following manager’s or engineer’s recommendations where test information is available.

  • Diagnose and correct problems or contact manager or engineer to verify circuit operations or to suggest methods to correct errors; prepare related test records and documentation.

  • Prepare layouts, diagrams, and schematic drawings through drafting techniques and methods using the computer following required specifications and general order interpretations.

  • Research and analyze information relating to nonstandard equipment and translate into known manufacturing processes or capabilities.

  • Verify accuracy and completeness of completed drawings as well as drawings of lower coded drafters and testers.

  • Maintain frequent contact with manufacturing personnel to review diagrams, modifications, adjustments, and the progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of equipment.

  • Maintain contact with customers or customer representatives to solve problems associated with our products; visit customer installation to trouble-shoot, repair, or modify equipment.

  • Be knowledgeable in high voltage lab safety requirements.

  • Maintain departmental records and equipment; provide assistance and guidance to lower coded drafters and testers as required; perform other related duties as required or assigned.

  • May receive various instructions, guidance and directions from higher level testers, engineer’s or manager to perform routine tests, diagnose or correct test documents and/or adjust test process to meet new customer expectations.

  • Travel as necessary to effectively interface with customers and other required contacts, to work at various outside/inside site locations, and to manage or participate in company-related projects, activities, or other job related assignments.

  • Assemble, adjust or repair using hand and air tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges and measuring devices assemblies and sub-assemblies of a repetitive and/or non-repetitive nature as required.

  • Use material handling equipment, including powered industrial vehicles, to move product and supplies. May lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Before attempting to manually lift a large/heavy object or an object known to be more than 35 lbs consider having another person assist, or use an appropriate lifting device.

  • Observe all safety and hygiene requirements as specified or directed. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work place.

  • All employees are expected to comply with the environment, health, and safety guidelines.


Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without company sponsorship.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 60 miles of Greenwood, SC will be considered. (with exception of internal candidates currently assigned to one of our Greenwood, SC sites)

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

  • At least 1 year of experience using hand and air tools

  • At least 1 year of experience with electrical drafting
