We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Transportation & Distribution Assistant at our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Gregory, TX.
Essential Job Duties:
Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety or our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
Receive and process daily orders and documentation for the shipment of finished products from the plant via ships, trucks, railcars, barges, and pipelines. This includes customer orders, shipping orders, Bills of Lading, railcar instructions and follow-up to customers or the Corporate Customer Service group.
Provide proper processing, expediting and communication of customer order requirements and lab Certificate of Analysis (COA) to onsite loading personnel to ensure compliance with customer product specifications & desired delivery timing. Resolve issues or questions with Corporate Business and Supply Chain groups as needed.
Coordinate documentation packages for vessel shipments with local shipping agents, including communication of ship crew personnel lists to plant security guards, communication of ship loading notifications to local Coast Guard and preparation of product quality information.
Track and account for railcars assigned to the plant fleets for daily status updating. Work with Corporate transportation support groups and local railroad dispatchers to resolve any problems with railcar location and/or repair status reporting.
Coordinate inbound and outbound railcar activity and documentation as needed with the Corporate logistics group & site railcar inspectors to balance local plant production and product storage needs with other railcar needs throughout the company.
Coordinate marine activity documentation relative to the transfer of materials from barges between Oxy & Chemours.
Assure compliance with applicable government agency laws and carrier regulations (such as Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration, Transportation Security Administration and Coast Guard) on all shipping documents.
Maintain up-to-date supply of product label stock, and print regulation labels and tags for product shipments.
Coordinate daily T&D shipment data with the Production group, and assist with daily reconciliation of ship, truck, barge and railcar shipments & receipts for production reporting purposes. Maintain the accuracy of finished goods inventory in SAP.
Prepare month end T&D reports to balance figures with plant production and accounting groups. Assist with reconciliation of month-end production accounting process.
Cross-train on the Production Assistant’s daily production database entry functions and month-end production closing functions, to serve as a backup for the Production Assistant.
Cross-train and back up the Ethylene T&D Assistant’s daily duties.
Support the plant’s Process Safety and Risk Management goals and objectives. Participate in site-wide Process Safety and Risk Reduction activities as requested.
Actively participate in plant wide training to support quality and safety needs including ISO, OSHA VPP.
Provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
Other T&D Department related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years experience in transportation of hazardous materials by truck, rail, ship, barge or equivalent is preferred.
High proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to handle difficult situations efficiently.
Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Demonstrates the ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision; exercises initiative & judgement, and makes decisions within the scope of assigned authority.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Physical requirements: Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Good working knowledge of SAP or similar business software.
Experience with reconciliation of Business orders, invoices, or product shipments & inventories.
