AECOM seeking an industrial ES&H Manager to join our pharmaceutical facilities operations & maintenance team !
Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm; hours may vary based on critical business demand.
This position is based in Groton, CT and requires regular day trips or overnight travel to support 7 related pharmaceutical facilities in the Northeast, Midwest, and California.
Travel is estimated at 50%.
This ES&H Manager position offers excellent opportunities for career development. Ideal candidates demonstrate 2-6 years of professional safety experience. Prior experience in a professional safety role in a pharmaceutical environment is highly desired.
In support of the field Facility Management team, this ES&H Manager performs technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with our ES&H standards as well as federal and state regulatory requirements. Must demonstrate knowledge of and apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of his/her environmental specialty.
Plans and administers training programs in accident and fire prevention and protection as well as other employee safety procedures.
Plans and coordinates safety and health classes for craft and supervisory employees.
Conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
Conducts comprehensive safety audits and inspections and recommends actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations.
Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard.
Investigates injuries, conditions and incidents that do, or could, involve actual or potential liability.
Maintains adequate records of pertinent data and compiles or initiates the compilation of the required reports on individual job occupational injury and illness experience .
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Demonstrates ability to collaborate with client/site EHS personnel to address potential hazards or unsafe conditions found.

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or a related role, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience in a safety professional role.
In addition to education requirements, 5 years of experience in an occupational safety role.
Working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
Working knowledge of safety in a facilities maintenance environment.
Ability to travel 50% throughout the assigned territory.
Qualified applicants offered a position must be able to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.
Qualified applicants must submit to and pass a Tuberculosis test prior to employment , or be medically cleared for Tuberculosis by a medical professional, and be able to maintain annual negative results.
Qualified applicants must pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position requires a valid Driver’s License.

This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other AECOM, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations .
Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.
Demonstrated capabilities in computer use including Microsoft full product line
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movements.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Current Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
Experience with OSHA 1910 General Industry and/or OSHA 1926 Construction requirements.
Experience with LOTO Energy Control procedures, Hot Work, Confined Space, and conducting hazard assessments and developing mitigation strategies in a facilities maintenance environment.
Prior experience in a professional safety role in a pharmaceutical environment.
Experience effectively delivering training to multiple levels of personnel.
Experience identifying potential safety problems or training opportunities, analyzing data to determine trends, and developing alternatives to develop mitigation strategies or capitalize on opportunities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience using software to enter and interpret safety-related data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
