Preferred Qualifications

As part of the Enterprise Network Services team within Oracle’s Global Information Technology organization, you will be responsible for the delivery of IT services to Oracle’s businesses worldwide, these services include the management and support of the internal global network infrastructure.

Technical Requirements:

Responsibilities include the proactive and reactive support of the Oracle internal network. Majority of support focuses on Cisco routing & switching, Wireless Infrastructure, WAN Management and MPLS/BGP Enabled networks; strong background in these areas is required. Other areas of support include but are not limited to Riverbed WAN Accelerators, Cisco Prime WLAN Controllers and APs, Juniper Border and Transit routers, point to point WAN circuits, Routing protocols like OSPF and BGP, Switching technologies, Nexus Switches and New Generation Cisco ASR Routers. Knowledge in these areas are recommended. Good understanding of Switching & Routing protocols (Vlan, STP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS). Experience with network monitoring tools such as: SNMP, MRTG & HPOV, etc. Knowledge in Perl & Python scripting languages for the use of Network Automation is a plus.

Security experience a plus: Basic to intermediate experience supporting network and network security technologies, especially Juniper Netscreen and SRX Firewalls, F5 Load balancers, McAfee IDS/IPS and Web Gateways, and FireEye Web Security.

Department Requirements:

Record creation and maintenance of equipment failure and liaise with engineers and suppliers as necessary. Escalate client problems according to established procedures. Manage the network using network management tools, analyze network performance and discuss network enhancements with senior networking specialists. Analyze network performance to ensure adequate bandwidth for business needs. Recommend enhancements to the network infrastructure and enhance proactive network management tool set. Troubleshoot network problems on the global network through to resolution, occasionally with guidance from more experienced staff, depending on complexity. Respond to monitor alarms to identify the root cause of an outage and coordinate the corrective action in line with existing procedures and practices. Provide on-call support services as needed.

  • Work from office location (not a remote position) Mid-level position: Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures. Three to five years relevant experience and degree/diploma in computer science or IT discipline. Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP) a plus.

Troubleshoot network problems on the campus network, remote locations and countrywide area network though to resolution, occasionally with guidance from more experience staff, depending on the complexity. As a team member or with assistance from others perform project engineering including specification definition, design of solution in compliance with corporate standards, implementation, testing through to production. Respond to monitor alarms to identify the root cause of an outage and coordinate the corrective action in line with existing procedures and practices. Provide on-call support services as needed.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation. Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures. 2 years relevant experience and degree/diploma in computer science or IT discipline.
