Eaton Corporation Lead Engineer - Chargers & Converter (eMobility) in Hadapsar Pune, India

This position is part of Product engineering team developing eMobility systems solutions for electrical and hybrid solutions for on- and off-road vehicles. As a member of the engineering team, you will lead power electronics design of Chargers, Battery packs, Converter (DC-DC, AC-DC Converters). In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for working with their engineering manager and cross functional teams to achieve the desired results. Incumbent will also be responsible for customer facing support to gather VOC and solve customer problems. Incumbent will work closely with engineers located in various locations in the U.S. Europe and Asia and will have functional reporting to the Global engineering directors.

  • Champions innovative solutions in the domain of Power Electronics, Pulse Power, High Power Solid-State Switching, Power Conditioning, DCDC & ACDC Power Conversion, High Voltage, Protection Circuits, High-Speed Communication Circuits, and Digital and Analog Controls, Power Magnetics, Gate Drives, I/O Interface Circuits and Control Hardware.

  • Writes and maintains functional specifications of design solutions for Chargers and converter products to meet performance and reliability

  • Evaluates alternative design solutions to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, cost and schedule.

  • Keeps track of latest power electronics, battery technology and controls strategies. Applies knowledge to grid-tie power conversion applications.

  • Possesses a broad strategic vision of the division’s future products and services and provides consultation in the chosen area of expertise with a strong system level understanding. Be a signatory for major deliverables / program.

  • Develop high level design involving electrical / power electronics / hardware design and interface designs. Optimize design for energy efficiency and various performance strategies using physical modeling or simulation tools.

  • Perform validation and verification test plans at a unit level

  • Utilize FMEA process to enhance design robustness. Contribute to continued enhancement of architecture to support additional product features.

  • Analyze product test data from customer and investigate, identify, and resolve issues and performance complaints.

  • Contribute to industry technical papers and conferences in power electronics domain

  • Provide customer facing support and solve customer problems. Develop understanding of marketplace for systems and services by closely working with Sales and Marking team along with the customer support.

  • Interface with products teams in EIIC and global locations; act as the liaison for program associated with associated simulation technologies

  • Monitors progress and achievements on projects, ensure technical reviews and expert resolution of issues and monitor integration of work.

  • Thorough understanding of digital validation tools and techniues to predict performance of products including flow and thermal simulations, control systems, system architecture, system modeling and tools, Six Sigma (DFSS) expertise.

  • Engage and contribute on multiple programs, adjacent to your technical expertise and be part of cross-functional teams. Capture the knowledge in the form publications. Consult on various other programs which require your domain knowledge

  • Understands technology advancement / market demand by closely working with Sales and Marking team along with the customer support



Masters in Electrical / Electronics / Power Electronics engineering with industry experience of over 7 years or (Ph.D with 5 years) and proven track record in engineering research / analysis / product design in Power electronics and battery management systems


  • Experience in new product development projects and in the field of power electronics and battery management systems

  • Knowledge of quality standards and certifications (IATF 16949, ISO9001, ISO14001)

  • Excellent mastery of FMEA method for the design of new products

  • Experience in hybrid / vehicle electrification

  • Experience in following tools - MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice/ LT Spice/ Simetrix, PSIM/SABER

Preferred / Additional specialized knowledge

  • Experience in pulsed power, capacitor chargers, electromagnetics, microelectronics, and thermal design is a plus.

  • Experience in Analyzing and simulating power electronics systems including, analog, logical, and digital electronics. Leverages use of Hardware in the Loop simulation systems..

  • Experience in Validation, Verification and Certification of Auto / Electrical domain

  • Knowledge of Reliability for Embedded system Design.

  • Understanding of DFSS tools like FMEA, FMECA, Monte Carlo Analysis etc

  • Experience with ISO 26262 and/or ASPICE standards.
