Distribution Center General Maintenance Associates are responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all common areas and/or work areas as assigned(i.e., breakrooms, restrooms, office area, work area, shop floor, exterior of building, etc ). Individuals in this position must work cooperatively with other Associates and productively. Following Company safety policies and procedures is of great importance to this position.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Follow Company safety policies and procedures and encourages other Associates to do the same.
Safely operates forklift or other machinery in order to complete tasks such as loading, unloading, sorting, staging, and transporting products.
Maintains condition of Distribution center work area (i.e., free of trash, product in correct location, etc.).
Paints, plasters and performs other building maintenance functions including minor plumbing and minor carpentry in order to maintain and repair facilities.
Reacts to maintenance related incidents, such as spills.
Ensures trash compactor is emptied on a timely basis.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Department Supervisor. No direct reports. Typically has little contact outside workgroup. Typically assignments are very specific. Typically refers to basic instructions when solving problems. Typically guidance is always available and prior permission is required before changing work methods.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements:
The warehouse environment can be dusty and noisy.
Doors near working areas are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
Interior floors near entrances and exits may become slippery during wet weather conditions.
Upon completion to operate a forklift or other type of lift equipment, a General Maintenance Associate may have to operate a piece of equipment using electric voltage.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 0 years
Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
