For this unique opportunity to help shape Shell’s position at the forefront of the energy transition we are looking for a senior manager with experience in strategic business development and portfolio integration.

Where you fit in

The purpose of New Fuels is to develop and deploy new technologies and business models that reduce emissions from transport fuels. As part of a lower carbon future, production of Biomethane is expected to grow to meet societal desires to lower emissions in heavy duty and where demand exists, the light duty segment. The focus is on growing manufacturing opportunities in North America and Europe, expanding to Asia as demand increases.

What’s the role?

Within New Fuels this role will cover commercial business development activities primarily in Europe for biomethane and bring support to other regions when required (including regular travel within Europe). Reporting to the General Manager Renewable Natural Gas based in Houston, your main responsibilities as a Business Development Manager are to:

  • Work across a broad range of commercial and technical activities in Europe to progress new opportunities and deliver commercially viable projects in Biomethane

  • Assess third party commercial and technical offerings and form valuable collaborations covering partnerships, feedstock strategies, project agreements and product to market activities

  • Create and deliver opportunities for building Shell’s Biomethane manufacturing portfolio

  • Connect varying parts of Shell together to build a shared vision for application of biogas

What we need from you

As this role requires collaboration with a diverse network of external and internal contacts we are looking for a highly skilled communicator who can build and nurture those relationships to create long-term value for the business. With Shell’s new energies solutions being pre-commercial and first-of-a-kind for Shell and industry these activities are exposed to high risks and require a growth mindset. Therefore, experience in dealing with ambiguous data and decision-making processes are vital in a rapidly changing business dynamic. Furthermore, we are looking for senior managers who have:

  • Bachelor/Master degree in business studies or engineering

  • Proven track record and an established network in the BioGas/Biomethane Industry

  • Deal making and project management experience as project lead

  • Analytical skills for economic and financial decision making

  • Experience in leading teams and delivering through others
