The Vehicle Testing Team based at the Shell Technology Centre Hamburg supports the research and development of new Shell products with a range of advanced automotive test platforms. Those testing platforms are the most complex and innovative in the industry to enable differentiation between different fuels and lubricants allowing the development of the next generation Shell V-Power Fuels and Shell Helix Lubricants.
Project Engineer Vehicle Testing
This role offers you the opportunity to join the exciting innovation of new and environmentally friendlier fuels and lubricants developed to tackle the future and ever-increasing demands of mobility. As an engineer you will be part of a larger integrated team of engineers technicians and scientists who are developing the next generation of fluid formulations. You will work with the latest cars and trucks from a variety of OEM’s. With Shell being at the forefront of the energy transition you will also be exposed to hybrid or battery electric vehicles and vehicles with other alternative engines and drivetrains.
As a Project Engineer in Vehicle Testing you will be responsible for a critical step in evaluation phase of our new, highly innovative fuels and lubricants, including:
Managing all aspects of Vehicle Testing on our Chassis Dynamometers
Collaborating with Scientists and OEMs to create test development programs
Planning and delivering the test development program
Analysing and validating test results with internal or external stakeholders
Leading the development and enhancement of the Vehicle Testing capabilities
Continuously improving testing techniques and data evaluation (e.g. through digitalization)
Leveraging the latest technological advancements in Chassis Dynamometers
Applying a commercial mindset and creating innovative solutions to Vehicle Testing that unlock new business value for Shell

Hamburg - Harburg PT
As an Engineer in the Vehicle Test Team you strive to deliver operational excellence, visible technical leadership and role model safety behaviors. In addition to that we are looking for candidates with:
Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with focus on automotive engineering, combustion engines and/or vehicle technology
3 to 5 years experience in research and development in the petrochemical or automotive industry
First experience in test bench operation and/or vehicle and engine testing are a plus
Basic level of emissions measurement knowledge is beneficial
Good team working and interpersonal communication skills
Autonomous working, enthusiasm and doer mentality
Fluency in English and German language (B2, spoken and written)
