What You Will Be A Part Of:
The Senior Cloud Storage Automation Engineering candidate should have an extensive background in automation, scripting and cloud services. The role will have a primary focus on designing and building automations within the Storage and Data Protection team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The engineer will be responsible for designing solutions for a wide variety of applications to increase efficiencies and effectiveness. Must be a self-starter with high level analytical skills combined with thorough documentation abilities. This position will report to the Storage and Data Protection Senior Manager.

Education and Experience
Combined minimum of 5 years' higher education and/or work experience in a DevOps role
Willing to work outside normal hours on occasion
Able to explain architecture and design elements to various audiences
Excellent interpersonal communications skills - our organization has a high degree of interaction and collaboration in an international setting
Able to create and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships
A team player within a dynamic environment
Results-driven with a 'can do' mentality and an eye for quality
In depth practical experience with Cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, trends and industry-leading cloud vendor offerings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Knowledge of SAN, NAS, and general backup principles
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration
Practical experience designing and building solutions utilizing AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, KMS, Lambda, IAM, Kinesis, ECS
Understanding of cloud services administration (AWS required)
Extensive knowledge of configuration management and provisioning tools (Ansible, Terraform)
Experience with tools used for CI/CD (Git, Jenkins, etc.)
Great understanding of software development processes including continuous integration/continuous delivery, agile development methodologies (DevOps)
Demonstratable knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python (preferred), Perl, Shell, PowerShell, Windows batch scripting)
Experience leveraging REST APIs, Web Services
What You Will Do:
Automate backup and storage infrastructure, develop solutions for automatic remediation
Implement solutions for reporting and integration into Service Management tools
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices.
Identify and drive process-based improvements that generate operational and financial efficiencies.
Works with technical, operational, and functional areas to answer questions, resolve problems and identify opportunities for efficiency gains
Design transaction processing, message processing, web applications, web services applications/platforms etc.
Resolve incidents and problems in accordance within guidelines and meets operational agreements
Implement change requests and meet project deliverables within defined guidelines
Position will require shift-based work hours. Including, but not limited to, weekend and after hour shifts.
