Oracle System Administrator 4-IT in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.

The Application Management Services Team provides Cloud-based Application, Infrastructure and Platform services to allow the Oracle Retail Global Business Unit to deliver Cloud offerings for our products within the Retail vertical market.

_Main Responsibilities _

  • Install, configure, maintain application environments

  • Upgrade and patch application environments and their technology stacks

  • Debug issues related to application configuration and technology stacks

  • Create and maintain ad hoc productivity and automation scripts

  • Triage hardware, operating system and related issues

  • Assist development and QA teams in identifying and solving application issues and performance issues.

  • Publish and maintain documentation on web pages related to services offered.

  • Operate independently and as part of a team including remote team members and multiple stakeholders.

  • Participate in rotational support that includes on call support for non-business hours.

  • Provide customer support during their implementation cycle and post go live.


  • Extensive experience in implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Applications using WebLogic Server 8.1/9.x/10.x, LDAP, Deployment tools, Monitoring tools on UNIX (Solaris/Linux) and Windows environments

  • Proficient in handling all the aspects of Installation, Configuration, Clustering, Deploying Applications, Load Balancing, and Performance Tuning WebLogic Server & SOA issues in production, and testing environment

  • Cluster configuration experience Single Cluster, Multiple Clusters and deployments over clusters

  • 8 plus years of experience in IT industry in analysis, design, support and maintenance of large client-server and web based applications in which 6 years of experience in Oracle Weblogic Support.

  • Real time experience with the troubleshooting and supporting Merchandise applications and Batch Jobs. Merch applications includes RMS, ReSA,RPM, ReIM , Allocation etc .

  • PL\SQL reading and writing programming experience. Should be familiar with tools like sql developer to triage customer issues, running script and trouble shoot performance issues

  • Expertise in Weblogic Application Server Administration including installing, configuring, migrating, load balancing, deploying applications, performance tuning, capacity planning, upgrading, and maintenance of Weblogic Servers.

  • Solid experience in administration of Weblogic server 6.1/7.0/8.1/9.2/10.1/10.3.x/12.1.x on IBM AIX, Solaris, Red Hat Linux, Oracle Linux or windows environments

  • Solid experience in deploying and supporting applications on multiple Weblogic servers and clusters

  • Strong knowledge in various Web Logic sub-systems like clustering, JDBC, JMS, SSL, RMI/EJB objects etc

  • Excellent skills with scripting languages like Perl and Shell scripting

  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in the administration (installation, maintenance and debugging) of enterprise-level applications

  • Possess Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Possess 5 -8 years of previous System Administration or related experience on Weblogic, Linux and/or one of the popular Unix OS flavors (Sun Solaris, HP-UX, AIX)
