Performs and documents quality investigations resulting from out of specification results (OOS), deviations, CAPAs, product complaints, process improvements, new products or other events requiring investigation and/or analysis.


  • Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) tests to develop a line capability database (manufacturing and packaging)

  • Assists with corporate Production Trial Runs (PTRs) as part of any product development or change, including Technical Transfers, Release to Manufacture (RTMs) and Release to Ship (RTS) meetings and correspondence

  • Responsible for the ‘Receiving End’ of the Technology Transfer Process as well as input to the process during development

  • Perform technical analysis and implements corrective actions for quality issues and continuous improvement opportunities

  • Assist with plant-relevant input into FMEA’s, lessons learned, and DFM

  • Liaison with R&D Process, Product, & Package Development & Analytical to design appropriate tests and scale-up trials

  • Provide recommendations for opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains

  • Responsible for process qualifications of minor changes to formulations (G2G projects, raw material qualifications, etc)

  • Prepares material reviews to document deviations and other quality incidents and performs corresponding investigations.

  • Performs and documents quality investigations resulting from consumer/customer complaints.

  • Performs root cause analysis and assigns and tracks CAPAs for quality incidents in Manufacturing, Processing, and Packaging.

  • Works within the organization to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented timely and effective.

  • Supports other compliance functions within the department as needed (QA/QC, Laboratory, Stability).

  • Supports Scale-Up Team in defining appropriate sampling plans, data analysis, and preparing Master Manufacturing Records for new products.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of QE, and auditing of manufacturing operations

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt a plus

  • Experience effectively partnering with all work groups and outside contractors.

  • High self-initiative, self-motivated individual with demonstrated results.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Competent in GMP, ISO:9001 or ISO:13485

  • Thorough understanding of Corrective Action/Preventive Action methods.

  • Excellent data acquisition and documentation skills.

  • Elevated level of professionalism to work with other departments within the organization and gather information.

  • Project management and organization skills to manage multiple projects at once.

  • Excel, Word, PPT, Minitab

Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS degree in related field (Quality Engineering certification desirable).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing of consumer products, medical devices, and/or pharmaceuticals.

  • Experience working in a plant environment with manufacturing, contractors and suppliers.
