POSITION SUMMARY

The Agile Coach will be responsible for leading and conducting training and coaching efforts for the Clinical Platform team's transition to/continued path with Lean-Agile methodologies. This individual will also be responsible for documenting and communicating best practices, working with Program teams and leadership; the Agile Coach must be a strong leader and advocate for the adoption of Lean-Agile methodologies, be assertive about adherence to Lean-Agile processes, and enthusiastic about Agile practices and their benefits. Provide thought leadership and expertise across their team to support teams and trains in meeting their commitments. This role will report to the Clinical Platform Head of PMO.

Fundamental Components:

Enable the Program to have one view of all work happening across organizations, using tools like CA Agile Central, SharePoint, Clinical Platform QuickBase and other tools as necessary.

Inform, design and manage Program and Train-level dashboard metric reporting in and out of CA Agile Central to track execution and Release program status

Versed in the agile manifesto, agile methodologies and coaching

Ability to work with teams to identify core issues, provide guidance to the team about how they might tackle those issues and then hold the team accountable for making changes.

Understand how organizational structure, paths of communication, the flow of work all figure into whether agile can be successful.

Adheres to AGILE (Scrum) framework by utilizing internal procedures and tools and identifying areas of methodology improvement

Builds effective relationships to enable collection of accurate feedback and understanding of desired team outcomes

Coach processes to enable work across multiple stakeholders to define quality features and stories and appropriately manage prioritization

Exhibits senior business analyst behaviors

Applies expertise in story writing to coach agile team product owners and support improved definition of acceptance criteria and definition of done.

Support Agile coaching activities across program Trains to elevate the Programs knowledge and execution of the application of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

Facilitate groups and meetings. This includes the pre-work, the facilitation during the meetings, and the follow-up. Size ranges from 2-3 to 300.

Engage enterprise Programs in execution of SAFe, sharing industry and internal best practices and aligning programs wherever opportunities exist

Manage Program-wide processes, including:

o Support preparation for and facilitation of program meetings and processes, including Scrum ceremonies and quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning activities in Hartford, CT

o Identify and pursue opportunities to fine-tune and improve Program execution; recommend enhancements related to new and/or existing workflows based on broad view of the organization and a Lean Agile mindset

o Support other functions of the Clinical Platform Program Management Office, as needed

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

  • 3 or more years working with Lean- Agile methodologies (prior experience as an Agile coach is a plus) in a large organization

  • 1-3 years experience working in project management tools such as Jira, Trello, CA Rally

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience as it relates to the organization, prioritization and multi-tasking skills needed to support a large, multi-year budgeted program

  • SAFe SPC certification

  • Additional Product Manager/Product Owner (PM/PO) or Release Train Engineer (RTE) certifications also strongly preferred

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
