Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for system programming and analysis tasks of intermediate complexity within a single system or group of small systems. Responsibilities include performing analysis, design, programming and configuration functions (includes defining technical requirements) with a very high degree of accuracy and speed. Performs analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity and escalates appropriately. Builds effective relationships with stakeholders. Utilizes business knowledge to explain technical activities in business terms. Seeks opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities. Performs basic project management responsibilities. Coordinates project work with GSO partners. Provides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees. Applies knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects. Other duties as assigned.

Marketing Description:

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive Experience with relational database management systems, SQL Server, especially in the development and modification of SQL databases, SQL stored procedures and data marts

  • Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and delivery methodologies

  • Working knowledge of Rally

  • Understanding of financial data flows and the need for stringent balancing and controls

  • Familiarity with Subversion(SVN), Autosys and DTS packages,

  • Solid Testing practices: Unit testing, system testing, integration testing and collaborating with QA Testing

  • Experience with ETL tools: MS ETL Tools, Abinitio, Talend, and other large platform tools is a plus

  • Exposure to Reporting tools such as Qlikview, SSRS and XLS Macros

  • Experience with one or more of the following: SQL 2017, Stored Procs, batch process (Power Shell) and familiarity with VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, .NET Framework and XML is a plus

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and software release lifecycles. SAFE, Agile and Scrum experience is a plus

  • Good research, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and proven contribution to a team goal

  • Ability to rapidly learn technical/business techniques and disciplines

  • Strong commitment to high quality work and timely deliverables

Job Summary:

The Bond & Specialty Insurance IT organization is seeking a motivated Associate Software Developer to work within our Business Intelligence & Analytics development team, specifically to support our Financial Compliance Application (FCO) and their respective downstream feeds. The position blends design and programming work with some minimal technical oversight of consulting resources and focuses on the delivery and development that align with our department’s strategic platform vision.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years of SQL programming/development preferred.

Candidate must have very good SQL programming capabilities as well as significant experience in many types of project development work (maintenance, small to large). Candidate must have very good communication and interpersonal skills and be detail-oriented, self-motivated and proactive, as evidenced by prior experience in root cause identification and issue resolution.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 3-5 years of programming/development experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Operates standard office equipment. Requires extended periods of computer use. Requires extended periods of sitting.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required. 3 years of programming/development experience required.
