Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide detailed and accurate cyber risk assessments to assist underwriters with risk selection and pricing, including evaluation of remediation measures following a cyber incident and participation as needed in underwriting meetings with agents, brokers, and prospective insureds.

Assist cyber claims teams when domain specific expertise would improve the handling of a cyber claim or the insured’s incident response effort. In addition, provide support to litigation teams involved with first-party subrogation matters or third-party liability defense.

Develop programs and manage resources that will allow insureds to understand and effectively mitigate cyber risks, including access to services and expertise provided by third-party cyber security vendors.

Track developments in the cyber insurance industry, including consultation as needed in the development of cyber insurance products and services.

Identify emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and evaluate their potential impact both on individual insureds and on Travelers’ cyber insurance business overall. In addition, provide support to enterprise CAT teams in evaluating cyber aggregation risks and in responding to cyber aggregation events.

Develop training and education programs related to cyber risks, emerging threats, and cyber risk mitigation and control.

Consult with insureds about known and emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and provide information about appropriate cybersecurity controls, cyber risk mitigation strategies, and cybersecurity best practices

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, this position provides subject matter expertise on cyber threats, cyber security, and emerging cyber technology to underwriting, claims, and other teams across the Travelers enterprise. This position also provides cyber risk control resources to help Travelers insureds understand and mitigate cyber risks.

Position Type:


Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

Knowledge of security controls and security best practices for industrial control systems (ICS) or SCADA systems.

Knowledge of cyber insurance coverages, and cyber-related coverages in property, GL, and other insurance products.

Physical Requirements:

Operates standard office equipment - Frequently Sitting (Can stand at will) - Frequently Use of Keyboards, Sporadic 10-Key - Frequently

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field. Five years' experience in IT Risk Management, Cybersecurity, or other applicable information security disciplines. Certification in or advanced knowledge of industry standards/regulations (NIST, ISO, PCI-DSS, GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, etc.) and identification and analysis of existing and emerging cyber threats. Experience managing and or developing cyber, IT, ICS or Information Security controls. Experience of overseeing or conducting independent risk assessments, business process, IT, or ICS control auditing One industry standard information security certifications required (e.g., CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CSX, CFE, PCI); multiple certifications preferred.
