POSITION SUMMARY

Aetna's Group Medicare team is seeking a Analytics Consultant to support business intelligence analytics based on clinical, claims, utilization and benefits data from multiple sources and support business needs. These activities require technical, analytical and consultative skills, extensive knowledge of health care data and information systems to develop advanced analytic insights to drive new programs and support business initiatives to improve health outcomes. The position will work with a cross-functional team, delivering complex analytical projects, partnering with internal and external clients to improve engagement and impact of custom programs. Position is open to our Hartford and Chicago locations.

Fundamental Components:

Performs applied statistical research and custom analysis of integrated healthcare data, interprets results

Makes recommendations about data collection methods, metrics definition and evaluation methods.

Creates and evaluates the data needs of assigned projects and assures the integrity of the data.

Defines and delivers analytical solutions in support of healthcare business initiatives that drive short and long term objectives

Presents solutions and analytics to internal and external customers and stakeholders.

Stays informed about Medicare industry trends, research findings and evaluation methods.

Under general direction, independently executes analyses or reports to meet project needs.

Responsible for project commitments to quality and on-time deliverables.

Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently

Contributes to a motivated work environment by working effectively to achieve common goals

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

2 to 3 years experience strategy consulting or on strategy teams in large companies

2+ years of business experience leading analyses and initiatives with track record of business impact.

Healthcare sector and/or Medicare experience preferred

Demonstrates proficiency in most areas of mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling and in-depth specialization in some areas.

Experience in SAS or SQL or other programming languages.

Ability to build small dashboards and reports using Excel and/or Tableau is preferred

Strong knowledge of advanced analytics tools and languages to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources.

Demonstrates strong ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business partners.

Preferred: Programming experience

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES

  • Management/Management - Data analysis and interpretation/1-3 Years

  • Information Management/Data acquisition, data management, programming and documentation/4-6 Years

  • Management/Management - Project management (non-IT)/1-3 Years

    Telework Specifications:

    Considered only for current internal teleworkers (in any area)
