The Government Services Underwriting team has an opportunity to help drive membership and earnings as part the growing organization and continue to develop Aetna's Medicare Advantage products. As part of the Government Services Actuarial and Underwriting organization, the Medicare Underwriting Consultant will perform accurate analysis and risk assessment to produce sound financial responses/products in a timely manner. Will provide superior service in support of writing and/or renewing Aetna's group Medicare Advantage business.
As a Medicare Underwriting Consultant, individuals will be required to produce accurate and timely proposals and renewals for Aetna's Public and Labor Sector, National Accounts, and Key and Select Medicare Advantage customers. Underwriting consultants work closely with the sales team to provide strategic healthcare solutions which are affordable and satisfactory to the member and plan sponsor. S/He will be responsible to manage an assigned book of business and ideally take steps to mitigate risk at the plan sponsor level and achieve growth, retention and revenue targets for their book. Underwriting Consultants will need to work proactively and within variance guidance to achieve segment goals and ensure customer persistency and profitability. Aetna provides an array of retiree products including but not limited to the following: fully insured Medicare Advantage, PDP, Medicare Integration, and Medicare Supplement plans. Underwriting Consultants will be expected to be comfortable pricing these various arrangements and products within prescribed variance guidelines. Additionally, successful individuals must be able to work across departments and functions in a focused and collaborative manner. Successful candidates also should possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:· Experience in underwriting fully insured pricing methodologies (manual, experience, blended, etc.) is preferred but not required. · Must have 1-3 years of work experience ideally in a finance or insurance industry capacity. · Demonstrated analytical and independent thinking skills. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Must be able to communicate effectively with all business partners.· Ability to use standard corporate software packages and corporate applications, including Microsoft Office programs. EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Position is open to Part-time Telework (3 days office-based). Option for telework will be evaluated after a certain period of employment.
