Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops, implements and maintains a system of tracking laws, regulations and bulletins forwarded for implementation and current implementation status. As applicable, manages more complex and controversial compliance/regulatory matters including filings, and provides technical expertise to support business units on filing related issues. Understands related functions and integrates related processes/functions as needed. Develop and maintain a market conduct and regulatory examination database for use in developing and tracking action plans to address criticisms contained in market conduct and regulatory exams. Analyze market conduct and regulatory reports and identify criticisms made by the various insurance departments and obtain action plans to implement corrective action from the affected business area. Track status and periodically report results to Compliance management. Collect, analyze, summarize and distribute insurance department and industry information on compliance issues and trends. Develop a procedure for monitoring DOI and industry websites and publications for compliance issues that are relevant. May review routine advertising materials including agent websites for compliance with state laws and company policy. Manage the content of various Compliance websites. Assist in developing policies and procedures for records retention for company/ business group. As applicable, develop the overall filing strategy, and provides direction and support to business units in the development and preparation of material to be filed. Stays current on changes and developments that impact business requirements. Builds strong business relationships with internal and industry personnel involved in compliance-related matters. Hands-on working manager, acting as technical resource to staff, sets and monitors objectives, and provides guidance and work direction to staff. If individual contributor, has sufficient experience and applied knowledge to implement business strategies. Provides technical direction to others. May coordinate Business Continuity plans/report for business area. Review, identify and disseminate new laws and regulations that have compliance impact on the company/business. Report the implementation status of these laws, regulations and bulletins to the Compliance management and designated members of senior management. Represents the company with regulators and insurance industry. Manages the communication and negotiation of filings with state insurance departments.. Assists Corporate Audit on compliance issues pertaining to internal reviews. Supervises market conduct and regulatory exams and acts as chief liaison between company personnel and DOI examiners.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing complex compliance actions including rate, rule and form filings, claim reporting, market regulation, data calls, new laws and regulations, complaint handling, claim handling, company licensing, producer licensing and appointment, adjuster licensing and business compliance issues for the applicable area. This includes promoting awareness of compliance matters, monitoring success in implementing compliance actions, assist in the development of compliance plans/programs, and/or quality assurance reviews and self-audits.

Position Type:


Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Typically 7-8 years experience in business, insurance, risk management and/or audit areas. Strong communication skills required. Experience with managing staff a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to analyze and interpret legal documentation. Experience with state jurisdictional guidelines, regulations and procedures.
