Verizon Network Technician in Hartford, Connecticut
Our Network Technician works in the field to perform complex technical duties, including but not limited to working in terminals, nodes, central offices, customer premises, Data Centers, Backbone Regenerator sites, Controlled Equipment Vaults (CEVs) and manholes, performing maintenance, (including preventative maintenance), site surveys, installation, test and turn-up. You may be required to perform fiber locates and splicing or cable terminations.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Installing, monitoring, testing and maintaining telecommunications and associated electronic equipment and wiring per specifications and operational procedures, both in technical facilities as well as on customer premises.
Performing testing and diagnostic procedures on equipment according to published equipment standards.
Performing fiber locates, monitoring of construction activity, and fiber splicing and termination.
Assembling, installing, and/or testing transmission equipment channel banks, channel service units (CSU), digital service units (DSU), modems, routers, etc.
Installing routers, bridges, multiplexers, concentrators, etc.
Completing periodic maintenance on company transmissions support equipment.
Maintaining new and existing circuits through troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques; utilizing remote test systems to isolate and resolve customer circuit outages.
Coordinating the testing and turn up of service with all involved providers until the customer’s service is up and working.
Tests– Results obtained in interviews and tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the Company.
Security background investigation may be required.
Medical evaluation may be required. Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, perceiving differences in wire cable colors, moving and/or lifting items such as ladders, tools, air tanks, cable reels, test equipment and other objects weighing up to 100 pounds, working aloft; climbing ladders and poles, and entering tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks.
Where driving is required, a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Where a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required, the applicant must pass a drug and alcohol test and qualify on the Department of Transportation's CDL physical, written, and skills qualifications tests.
Where driving is required, must meet applicable federal and state standards for operating the size vehicles covered by this job title.
Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business. Associates may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, non-scheduled days and overtime as the needs of the business require.
Weekly Rate: $1029.50 - $1473.00
