POSITION SUMMARY

Creates and deploys winning product strategies and manages product portfolio to increase and retain Aetna membership. Oversees product strategy and management, ensures product strategies are integrated within company/business unit strategy and operational plans. Represents Product strategic issues with Senior Management.

Responsible for facilitating and driving the strategic development of Individual Medicare Advantage benefit innovations.

This role will work cross-functionally with many areas of the organization, as well as external vendors, to develop, design and deploy new benefits. The individual must be creative and able to identify, research and review large amounts of competitive, market, financial and benefit datasets and use information to see ideas from ideation to implementation. The ideal candidate will be very familiar with the CMS regulations related to Chapter 4 of the Managed Care Manual and also be well-versed in regulations pertaining to Health-Related Supplemental benefits and Uniform Flexibility.

Fundamental Components:

Maintain mastery-level understanding of Aetna/business unit strategy, customers, healthcare and regulatory environment.

Analyze, interpret, and build information on customer trends, competitor moves, and product performance.

Generate unique and actionable insights to drive strategy.

Demonstrate mastery-level understanding of key drivers of product performance including holistic, integrative view of all other functions, i.e. pricing, sales, distribution, quoting, marketing, as well as other markets/segments, and Aetna business processes.

Advanced ability to manipulate data, understand patterns, and draw conclusions in a hypothesis driven approach to analysis.

Oversee/lead the development of rigorous strategic/economic business cases for short-term enhancements, maintenance fixes and/or new products that are breakthrough and positioned to win in the marketplace, including 3-year roadmaps. Substantiates strategy with rigorous analysis and data/research, including milestones, success metrics, and objective, high-level benefits, e.g., membership, revenue, medical cost saving projections. Mastery-level understanding of strategy implications in context of other products and member-facing tools.

Ensures that product strategies are articulated in a compelling manner customized for different stakeholders including laying out facts / data in easily digestible format and drawing clear conclusions.

Leverages verbal and written communication to obtain buy-in from critical partners including prioritization and funding. Provides direction, input and thought leadership into broader strategy work.

Builds and leverages strong relationships and removes barriers

Oversees multiple competing products/projects with effective prioritization and eye for detail.

Takes full accountability for end result, serves as product expert, and leverages all resources available to achieve objectives.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:

Health Insurance Industry: 10+ years

Medicare Advantage: 6+ years

Strategy: Creative, thoughtful, and innovative mindset

Relationship Management: Demonstrated relationship management skills with senior levels of management, both internally and externally

Communication: Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills

Technology: Strong MS PowerPoint, MS Excel required

Able to understand what non-Medicare covered benefits competitors offer and convey that information to internal partners.

Be creative and thoughtful in working up ideas proposed internally; considering all aspects of new benefit design from bid mechanics to member experience.

Candidate should be able to identify, gather and apply various data sets to identify, support and defend strategic direction with ease.

Candidate must have first-hand experience in MAPD bid development and Plan Benefit Package (PBP) filings as well as Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and Evidence of Coverage (EOC) development and creation.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Project Management/Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired

Telework Specifications:

Full-Time Telework (WAH). Looking for candidates in various cities to cover plans nationally.
