Aetna Program Business Analyst in Hartford, Connecticut

This position is accountable for the business analysis functions for Commercial Sales Effectiveness team - from leading requirements gathering/ brainstorming sessions to providing the technical data warehousing/ reporting specs to the core technical team/s. Sales effectiveness team is growing and developing new applications for Producer and Sales reporting. These applications will have internal and external users and have a heavy impact on the strategy directions. Person, in this role, will be responsible for creation of process workflow documents, lead requirements sessions with business leaders, create Data warehouse Source to Target mapping rules, coordinate across business and IT teams for integrated capability. Position would often require pulling analytical insights from the data and presenting to IT/ Non-IT leads and get their buy-in. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a passion for exceeding users expectations are key qualities to be successful in this role.

Fundamental Components:

Consistently performs analysis and translates business needs to create high-quality Business Requirements and Functional Specifications documentation to solve most complex problems (multiple interfaces with other systems across multiple business units) considering all impacted components from an end-to-end perspective.

Ensure that the current & proposed business Process Flows are complete and accurate as needed to support the Requirements Specification documentation

Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of business systems, process and application analysis across multiple applications aligned to a domain or programs.

Ensures creation of the appropriate User Guides/ documentation

Consult or facilitate sessions to identify opportunities/ propose technical solutions to business problems (advanced level).

Proactively monitors, identifies, and communicates risks and issues that may impact any aspect of the project to the appropriate leadership.

Completes project activities on time, and proactively identifies and communicates issues that may jeopardize milestones.

Ensures regular updates of the Product Overviews, FAQs, Tool Glossaries, system training materials, and system user documentation

Creates high level technical specification documents (Data warehouse source to target mapping documents) for all translations rules and reports

Create test scripts for testing the functionality created by the project and help setup the test data

Performs Quality testing and User acceptance testing

Performs data analysis to identify analytical insights and prepare material/s (powerpoint or Tableau) to present the outcome with senior leaders

Maintain data models and ensure data integrity, avoid data redundancy, recommend solutions to support business requirements

Evaluate external products vs. the internal build out and provide insights for the decision making/ propose new solutions in existing or new applications

Mentors other team members


10+ years of Technical Business Analyst experience (Data warehouse)

3+ years supervisory/management experience or leading enterprise wide complex project requirements/ data warehouse projects

Ability to recognize complex problems vs. objectives and apply creativity to analyze situations, develop solutions and procedures.

Preference to someone with Sales, Producer/ Broker experience


The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
