Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
This is a project delivery role where you’ll have the opportunity to apply your business acumen and critical thinking to define solutions to deliver the expected business value. The Project Director drives planning and execution of the projects/program activities in accordance to business priorities and Strategy. This role operates within minimal supervision with flexibility to merge different methodologies to accomplish strategic goals. Manages team development, actively mentors members of the PM community.
End to End planning and delivery of medium to large programs
Tracking and reporting of MYP initiatives in accordance to plan and business value.
Defining appropriate governance, methods and practices around executing operations efficiency projects, improving the overall project maturity across the organization
May have direct management responsibility of PMs
The Project Director controls planning and execution of the Projects' or Program's activities and resources to ensure that established cost, time, and quality goals are met. The Project Director works with minimal supervision and is responsible for applying advanced Project Management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to Project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations. The Project Director operates within defined parameters using a proven Project Management Methodology with flexibility to merge different methodologies in accomplishing collective goals.

Works with and includes people from different backgrounds, experiences, cultures, races, etc. and views those differences as assets to be leveraged to accomplish business goals and objectivesManages team development, very active in the mentoring of members of the PM community, may have direct management responsibility of PMs. Develops both IT and Non-IT Project budgets. Manages against them.
This position is the primary point of accountability to Business Partners and other parties for the management and implementation of the medium to large size Projects or small to medium sized Programs that support achievement of moderate to complex unit or corporate goals.
5+ years of Project Management Experience
Six Sigma Green Belt
7+ years preferred in the Insurance Industry
Presentation experience - the ability to draft and present information to diverse groups and stakeholders.
Experience and skill in managing across functional and organizational lines
Insurance Industry and Travelers specific acumen preferred
Operations background and experience
Problem solving and analytical aptitude
Leadership/ employee development ability
Ability to effectively provide transparency into capabilities / solutioning and articulate to senior executives
Communications – Written and Oral
Strong skills in PowerPoint/Excel/Word
Maintains a positive, achievement-oriented attitude
Demonstrates initiative and innovation in achieving results
Anticipates on-going needs of customers and proactively works to develop solutions
Uses resources effectively - is well organized and sets priorities to meet critical business needs

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 7 years of project management experience preferred. 2 years of experience managing others and/or project teams preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent required. 5 years of project management experience required.
