Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a metadata and taxonomy subject matter expert for KM initiatives acting as the customer’s advocate, supporting current and future business needs.

  • Lead the creation, refinement, and integration of information labeling, context, and content to support usability and “findability” of both structured and unstructured content in a faceted search capability.

  • Identify new opportunities to optimize content delivery.

  • Understand business vision and customer needs and identify solutions to fulfill them through the taxonomy. Bridge the gap between business and technology.

  • Validate the accuracy of content tagging, ensuring the taxonomy is content and user focused

  • Partner with content creators and users across the organization so that taxonomy solutions are implemented efficiently, and desired goals are met.

  • Lead the taxonomy governance cross-functional working team, and manage the day-to-day implementation, maintenance, and governance of the taxonomy.

  • Analyze user search metrics to optimize the taxonomy navigation structures

  • Assist in the implementation of new Knowledge Management tools and processes to meet Bond & SI business needs; work with Bond & SI IT and Enterprise to ensure solutions are scalable.

  • Partner with the Enterprise to increase Travelers’ overall Knowledge Management maturity, share Bond & SI capabilities to the larger organization and learn from what is being developed by other Divisions.

  • Effectively manage projects, including planning, status updates, requirements development and prioritization.

  • Actively participate in the utilization of emerging technologies.

Develops and applies data derivations, rules, and data requirements that align with standards and regulatory compliance. Supports the development of Data Management standards and best practices. Consults on projects, resolves simple to moderate data issues, and provides training and mentoring to clients and peers. Serves as data management lead on moderately complex projects to review data requirements against data standards. Applies data and data quality definitions and standards, and transformation rules, in daily work. Works with other organizational units and resources to gather, analyze, and present data. Monitors, identifies, investigates, prioritizes, remediates, and communicates data quality issues. Performs data profiling, analyzes and communicates results in support of data quality processes. Demonstrates detailed understanding of overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage, and business rules. Data Governance: Supports the development and implementation of metadata repositories. May participate in defining, loading, and maintaining metadata. Adheres to the structure, best practices, and storage needs of the data lineage. Data Analysis: Develops and maintains business data requirements and specifications to support data standards. Ensures that solutions (structure, values, relationships, quality standards) meet operational and business need. Work with business areas and project team members to understand new business data capabilities and perform impact analysis to determine additional data requirements, provide data expertise and data as needed. Analyzes customer requests (internal and external regulatory, e.g. data calls) for changes to production systems, determines impact on existing systems, processes and develops appropriate specifications, enhancements and or procedures to comply. Meet with customer and conduct fact gathering sessions. Oversee deliverables to ensure compliance (e.g. state/bureau requirements). Handles simple to moderate root cause analysis of business data issues and provides technical data guidance on complex issues. Oversees specification or procedural changes to address issue. Supports the development of strategic solutions for architecture for managing of data including transformation logic, rules, tables as well as business requirements and specifications. Represent unit and department functions as part of Data Management committees with internal and external areas (e.g. Product Underwriting, Statistical Bureaus, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

As a key member of the Data Management team, the Knowledge Management Sr. Consultant will help optimize knowledge discovery and content classification as a taxonomy and search subject matter expert. This individual is responsible for creating the thesauri that drive the search and browse capabilities for our content management systems and data repositories. This individual will work closely with content curators and knowledge seekers to understand and capture Bond’s unique vocabulary and its nuances and structure the relationships between concepts to improve machine learning classifiers' ability to understand text. This role will also be responsible for developing and establishing repeatable, scalable and flexible processes to enhance content at the time of creation as well as ensuring our language is accurately and consistently applied to our existing content directly improving findability.

Leverages technology and analytics skills to apply basic to intermediate data analysis practices that benefit Business and IT strategic initiatives. Performs intermediate to advanced data profiling, metadata documentation, data lineage, and data transformation rules in support of key program deliverables. Meets data management needs of internal and external clients according to established standards, including problem research/resolution and customer education. Provides data subject matter expertise within areas of knowledge to Business and IT organizations. Performs data impact analyses in partnership with project teams. Supports the building of strategic model solutions including transformation rules and attribute relationships. Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

Three years of experience in knowledge management designing and implementing taxonomies/ontologies or related experience preferred.

Bachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business preferred. Insurance knowledge preferred. Three years of experience in data management or related experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of tools and software to extract and analyze data in the data management function.

Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of analytics experience required.
