Sr Paralegal

Target Openings:


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Demonstrate understanding of litigation strategy, especially as respects collection and bankruptcy matters.

Conduct moderate to complex legal research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and treaties to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, etc. for use by attorney.

Draft routine or complex legal documents for review and use by attorneys.

Categorize and interpret data; review and analyze reports, responses and records produced by opposing counsel.

Compile and prepare draft discovery responses.

Conduct investigations as needed and directed.

Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client, and full partnership with attorney through end of case.

Assist attorneys in locating witnesses and in the preparation of witnesses for deposition and/or trial.

Participate in special administrative and legal research projects as requested.

Job Summary:

Independently performs a variety of complex paralegal duties with limited supervision and has a solid understanding of complex legal issues. Specifically, this role will have responsibility for collection claims and litigation, as well as certain bankruptcy matters and general litigation support. Assist attorneys in all aspects of legal case preparation and file management including conducting moderate to advanced legal research, drafting routine to complex documents, and collecting information relevant to cases. Conduct investigations through personal interviews. Determine scope, direction and depth of legal research on assigned projects. May prepare case summaries, demand letters, pleadings, discovery responses, affidavits, subpoena responses, and other legal documents. Work with outside counsel to manage active litigation and negotiate settlements.

Position Type:


Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. Litigation experience and knowledge of bankruptcy, commercial law, and collection litigation strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree required. Minimum 7 years experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant required. Paralegal Certificate from An ABA-Certified program required.
