IBM Storage Engineer in HERNDON, Virginia

Your Role and Responsibilities

The Storage Engineer is responsible for supporting technology assessments, design, infrastructure build, configuration, test and documentation of all aspected of new deployments and technical refresh of existing environments. A successful candidate will have experience in the following:

  • Subject matter expert in Mainframe storage disciplines. Experience with storage performance and capacity planning.

  • Experience configuring and managing storage infrastructure between multiple data centers, including Data replication and Disaster Recovery.

  • Level 3 troubleshooting and problem management skills supporting escalations from operations.

This role may require off hours support and other duties as assigned.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years experience supporting design and implementation of mainframe DASD and VTL infrastructure, including DS8000 Copy Services and tape grid.

  • 3+ years experience supporting storage capacity planning and performance.

  • Ability to create formal documentation for delivery to operations, and maintenance staff.

  • Excellent teamwork skills.

  • Ability to communicate (both orally and written) effectively to various audiences.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Active Public Trust security clearance.

  • 2+ years experience with distributed storage area networks.

  • 2+ years experience with IT security solutions, firewalls and Mainframe security tools (zSecure, Top Secret, RACF, ACF2).

  • Experience working with Federal government clients is highly desired.
