Occidental Petroleum Equipment Tech in Hobbs, New Mexico

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Equipment Technician based in Hobbs, New Mexico.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the operation, surveillance, and troubleshooting of common oilfield rotating equipment, mostly focusing on pumps and compressors. Candidates must be able to relieve other Equipment Technicians, respond to callouts and work assigned weekends.

Responsibilities will also include the following:

• Validating and inputting equipment readings and downtime

• Track health of equipment by reviewing key temperatures and pressures

• Developing and executing preventative maintenance programs

• Take and track inventory for spare parts

• Troubleshoot equipment down codes and implement solutions

• Coordinating equipment outages with Operations personnel

• Reporting spills and leaks

• Initiating process for major equipment repairs


• 5 years oilfield equipment experience, with a responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors & the public

• Demonstrated strong commitment to safety (personal safety, co-workers, contractors and the public)

• Experience with plunger, centrifugal, and gear pumps

• Experience working with air compressors

• Must have valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record

• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform root cause failure analysis

• Ability to repair minor mechanical problems

• Ability to perform preventative maintenance and to participate in root cause failure analysis

• Capable of basic troubleshooting of automation and electrical equipment

• Competent in MS Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.)

Additional Qualifications:

• High School Graduate or G.E.D.

• Oilfield operations experience preferred
