This role is supporting the K12 Learning Services team. This position will be located in the Hoboken, NJ area.
Primary responsibilities include the monitoring and reconciling of all royalty G/L accounts. This would include the preparation of monthly journal entries, and numerous other close entries. Position also entails preparation of financial reporting schedules, participation in royalty rate budget preparation, preparation of audit schedules and other special projects.
Account analysis / reconciliation of royalty accounts
Monthly journal entry preparation for both P&L and balance sheet closings
Prepares analysis of royalty expense and researches explanations for fluctuations from plan
Participation in royalty rate budget preparation
Participation in annual tax package preparation
Ensures that internal control procedures are met.
Reconciliation of 1099’s
Process Foreign Income Tax Withholdings (1042’s)
Ad Hoc Reporting – Prepares and distributes select financial reports
Special Projects upon Request
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Related work experience-Three to five years of accounting experience; prior experience in monthly/annual closings, the Publishing Industry or Royalty Department a plus.
Formal education or equivalent B.S. Degree: Accounting. CPA is a plus.
Must possess good analytical skills, strong accounting skills and an ability to manage a heavy workload.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Royalties, Subrights, Business Objects and SAP a plus.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications:
Some knowledge of Access or Business Objects helpful
Ability to write Sequel queries a plus
Good research skills
The ability to interpret royalty statements is a plus
Deal with deadlines and pressure effectively
