Marsh & McLennan Senior Manager - IT Systems Engineering in Hoboken, New Jersey

Responsibilities Lead a web application engineering/operations team. Ensure team delivers at or above SLA requirements on a 24/7 basis. Lead and design distributed middleware infrastructure across DMZs, with a detailed understanding of networking, firewall and load-balancing services. Plan, design and implement disaster recovery solutions and participate in network and infrastructure design and deployment. Responsible for the technical design and sign-off for Marsh’s web/application software infrastructure. Provide hands-on, on-call production support Serve as a SME in terms of designing, implementing and supporting all application security solutions (Authn/Authz/SSO/Federation). Serve as a SME in WebSphere MQ (WMQ) Ensure that all technical application documentation is current and that work product meets SOX compliance requirements. Track changes and enforce best practices such as labeling and versioning. Coordinate solution delivery with other partners of the firm – Architecture, Infrastructure groups, QA, DBA, Engineering, and performance testers. Budgeting and capacity planning, as well as systems performance and uptime management. Providing responsible reporting metrics to senior management. Act as the department point of contact with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, quality assurance and technical support. Manage multiple applications or service areas and projects simultaneously to ensure on-time response, quality delivery and resolutions. Drive continuous improvement through optimizations of systems and processes for existing and new applications Qualifications 8+ years of technical experience in addition to 2+ years’ experience as a technical manager (people management). Operations and/or technical support leadership experience desirable. Expert skills in distributed WebSphere MQ (WMQ) including a strong understanding of design principles for building a scalable, fault-tolerant messaging infrastructure. The candidate must understand JMS, multi-instance queue managers, MQ clustering, publish/subscribe concepts, and MQ security. Extensive experience with WebSphere MQ (WMQ) and in particular with MQ version 8.x running on Red Hat Linux. This experience must include the installation of the product and its administration via the command line as well as via any GUI tools - Exposure to or experience with WebSphere Message Broker (WMB) and IBM Integration Bus (IIB) - Turning business messaging requirements into a secure and resilient MQ infrastructure design and then deploying and supporting that in both production and non-production environments - Providing WMQ support, incident resolution and problem management in development, uat and production environments - MQ security including object level security, channel security, SSL, third party security products - Familiarity of key monitoring metrics WMQ (Knowledge of QPasa) - Facilitate and provide technical reviews, and transition/handover support document to the L1/L2 Support Team members - TCP/IP knowledge - Understanding of J2EE application deployment patterns and n-tier architectures - Understanding of SOA and web services concepts - Experience in *nix systems administration, shell/wsadmin/jython scripting, networking, storage and security concepts - Interfacing with application development teams to turn their requirements into a secure and supportable MQ design - Deploying and supporting MQ connectivity with external partners and organizations. - Able to provide and communicate MQ solutions across differing audiences including Architecture and IT management - Open to learning new technologies, forward and strategic thinking - Capable of influencing and driving organizational/process/technology change - Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) - Team player, self-motivated, requiring minimal direction and able to work effectively either independently or be highly-collaborative with peers - Must have an excellent work ethic and customer service skills - Comfortable in a support role - Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
