Job Description:

As a Shell AI Resident, you will be given the opportunity to apply your expertise and deploy deep learning solutions at scale on real-world problems, supporting many different areas of Shell’s businesses. Over the course of this two-year program, you will tackle the world’s toughest energy challenges by collaborating with industry-leading researchers and professionals.

This position is focused on Technical Delivery of software as a subject matter expert (SME) in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Accountabilities:

  • Completion of four specified job tasks/rotations as defined by your supervisor and mentor in your Shell AI Residency Development Agreement (DA.

  • Complete all required trainings as set in your Shell AI Residency DA.

  • Completion of a Final Assessment which includes a technical oral examination, an accelerator project review, and a project proposal.

  • Provide quality / value-added deliverables (e.g., algorithms, software, techniques) in terms of content, clarity and practicality of solutions in order to assist with Shell's drive for deployment of digitalization solutions.

  • Participate in agile software development methodology, such as daily scrum meetings/stand-ups.

  • Consistently commit working versions of all implemented software in a project repository.

  • Understand and abide by the IP strategy set by projects and accelerators. Identify and contribute to opportunities for patenting, commercializing, or publishing according to the specific IP strategy.

  • Deliver through others via mentoring/coaching and SME development.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D/Doctorate degree in the fields of computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or electrical engineering.

  • BS and MSc with these degrees with 3+ years of Data Science related job experience will also be considered.

  • Strong proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python, R, and C++.

  • Experience with Deep Learning software platforms such as TensorFlow, pyTorch.

  • Experience in collaborative projects and with repositories such as git or svn.

  • Experience presenting and communicating technical information to an audience such as conference presentations.

  • Engaging with collaborative teams in a multi-cultural environment such as teaching, facilitating and leading workshops.

  • Deployment of data science solutions with a preference for cloud-based solutions at scale.

  • Demonstrated teamwork and influencing skills and ability to build effective relationships .

  • Must be willing to work in Houston, Texas or Boston, Massachusetts.
