The role of Specialities BD Project Manager Americas is expected to manage key project activities associated with the US New Market Entry project (Project Phoenix), including negotiation of strategic agreements with key customers, suppliers and Outside Supply Point (OSP) owners.
This role will serve in support to the New Market Entry project activities in the Americas, initially as a 2-year Project role, with the potential to evolve into a commercial role within the region, pending successful completion of the New Market Entry.
The Business Development team within Specialities is accountable for activities that impact the shape and size of the business globally: establishing and driving implementation of strategy, particularly in delivering a 1st Class Supply Footprint; managing growth investment projects and market entry opportunities; and portfolio rationalization activities.
Successful New Market Entry will rely upon identification & implementation of a sustainable end-to-end business model characterized by a differentiated CVP (customer value proposition), establishment of strategic customer relationships, low cost terminal operations, and a first-class supply position driven by collaboration with Specialities Global Supply Team, and the new T&S Global Bitumen Trading Organization.
The impending IMO regulations, taking effect in January 2020, bring a high level of strategic importance to this New Market Entry project, which has the potential to establish key commercial outlets and value uplift from global movements of both equity and 3rd party bitumen supply.
The Business Development team within Americas Specialities is accountable for activities that impact the shape and size of the business in the Americas. In the short term, the focus of these activities is on establishing a sustainable business model in the East Coast and/or Mid-Continent areas of the US. The BD team is responsible for driving implementation of this key project (Project Phoenix), framing and developing appropriate strategic partnerships, designing fit-for-purpose asset portfolio and managing Capex investment projects, etc. This position, as a key member of BD team will be supporting the Americas BD manager in delivery of these activities.
The BD Project Manager will support the Americas BD Manager in implementation of Project Phoenix. Specifically, this means working closely with T&S, Global Supply, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Technology on below priorities:
Identify & assess long term strategic supply partnership options, develop business model and economics, provide recommendations.
Lead specific work streams within global BD projects.
Support DRB meetings via thorough analysis of options and compilation of recommendations.
Contribute to the Specialities business planning cycle, including Regional & Project updates, Capex planning, SPU preparation and T&R.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

To be effective in this role the successful candidate will have to:
Establish an effective network, covering a wide geographic scope and across various business functions and lines of business.
Work on a number of initiatives at the same time, aligning a wide range of stakeholders across the business in the process and prioritise effectively.
At all times bring the E2E strategic view across supply chain, functions and P&Ls, to ensure maximum value is generated for the Enterprise.

Houston - EP Center Americas
Bachelors Degree required.
Minimum of seven (7) years experience as a Project Manager for Supply Chain and, Contracts and Procurement.
Knowledge in Trading processes and supply chain.
Knowledge in Bitumen Sales and Marketing.
Proven capability to translate financial analysis into strategic recommendations.
Great perseverance and capability to work effectively in challenging business environments.
Excellent English skill in both speaking and written.
