What’s the role?

The Commercial Retail Operator is part of the Commercial North America Gas Operations Team responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Shell Energy Americas (SEAm) gas activities in the New England and Mid-Atlantic markets. The retail operator will provide scheduling and operations support across multiple Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) behind which SEAm serves retail commercial and industrial (C&I).

Accountabilities:

  • The primary purpose is to carryout daily retail natural gas scheduling and operational duties for SEAm which includes but is not limited to the following accountabilities:

  • Coordinate the daily product movement for retail accounts including purchases, sales, and upstream supplies at LDCs via electronic bulletin boards (EBBs).

  • Schedule accurate nominations, meeting all deadlines throughout the day.

  • Aware of the various balancing mechanisms in use across New England/Mid-Atlantic LDCs, including imbalance tolerances and the financial cash out risks for noncompliance.

  • Monitor and report LDC postings, including Operational Flow Orders (OFOs) to Retail Account Managers, Pipeline Schedulers, and Trading.

  • Daily retrieval of customer meter usage data.

  • Aware of the various New England/Mid-Atlantic LDCs tariff terms and conditions.

  • Daily recording of operational information into SEAm internal gas management system (Endur) for accurate P&L, with detailed accuracy.

  • Perform monthly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting and handoff to Backoffice at month end.

  • Highly proficient in the knowledge and use of SEAm internal gas management system.

  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with teammates.

  • Build and maintain trusted partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work with limited supervision to troubleshoot & resolve problems.

  • Focal Point for elevated issue resolution in absence of supervisor.

Requirements:

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of one-year experience in retail/natural gas scheduling in New England and Mid-Atlantic LDC’s desired.

  • Knowledge in SQL and VBA beneficial.

  • Commercial mindset and ability to work with Retail Account Managers and Trading to maximize profits and prevent customer penalties and unnecessary cash-outs through accurate volume delivery.

  • Knowledge of LDC operations, curtailments, OFOs, and Entitlements.

  • Proven track record of performance and delivery.

  • Self-starter and ability to effectively multi-task.

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet strict time sensitive deadlines.

  • Very strong attention to detail.

  • Effective communicator, with highly developed interpersonal skills.

  • Strong Team Player.
