Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Marketing Accounting Financial Analyst based in Houston, TX.

This position is responsible for:

  • Derivative accounting and analysis for 4 commodities (Crude, Gas, NGL and Power)

  • Prepare Quarterly and yearly disclosure items related to Marketing activities

  • Assist in preparations and review of technical accounting memos

  • Reviewing and recording monthly journal entries

  • Preparing monthly Marketing close schedules

  • Ensuring monthly close deadlines are met

  • Reviewing financial statements and performing account reconciliations

  • Reconcile Economic vs GAAP PNL

  • Explaining monthly PNL drivers and variances for management review

  • Prepare and account for monthly outlooks and annual budgets

  • Prepare numerous monthly management reporting packages in accordance with US GAAP

  • Provide efficiencies and process improvements related to Marketing Accounting

  • Work with multiple systems

  • Analyzing and rectifying improper financial statement activity

  • Working closely with other departments in recording and analyzing financial data

  • Assisting with internal and external audit requests, as well as other special projects

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related degree

  • 3 to 5 years Industry and/or Marketing Accounting Experience

  • Understanding of financial statements and cash flow statements and relationships between accounts

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and meet short deadlines

  • Self-motivated and strong work ethic

  • Desire to improve processes

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Overtime required for monthly closing activities

Desired Qualification

  • Midstream experience / background a plus

  • Oracle or Allegro 8 experience a plus

  • Experience with Access databases a plus

  • CPA a plus
