Home Depot Leadership Development Principal in Houston, Texas


The Home Depot's Global Custom Commerce is looking for an experienced leadership development professional to join our Institute for Leadership, Innovation, Advancement, and Development (ILIAD). You will help develop supervisors, managers, and C-Suite leaders by designing, delivering and managing leadership development initiatives. You will help our leaders to embrace the changing realities of the digital market while we experiment without fear of failure and enjoy the innovative disruptions we are committed to make. The Leadership Development Principal is an individual contributor role that requires close partnership with internal and external senior leaders and thought leaders, as well as with universities, business schools, learning solutions providers, chambers of commerce, professional associations and networks. This role is responsible for leading, driving and manage all leadership development programs for our company, supporting managers in driving associates towards better business results, helping them to become better than they ever believed possible.

20%- Design, deliver and manage leadership development programs and initiatives

20%- Conduct research about the latest trends in innovative and highly engaging learning experiences, producing online and face-to-face development opportunities for our leaders

15%- Identify learning and development gaps, using competency mapping and success profiles

15%- Partner with the Dean of Administrative and Operational Affairs, and the Dean of Academic Affairs, to build academic, scientific, corporate, and other strategic inter-institutional partnerships to ensure the quality and relevance of the learning offerings

15%- Create, in collaboration with the Marketing department, an effective communication strategy for ILIAD, through the proper brand assessment, definition, conceptualization, creation, consolidation, and evaluation.

15%- Provide leadership development coaching to leaders of different levels across the company


This position reports to the GCC VP of Accountability

This positon has no direct reports.



Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a master's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 7 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Business or Executive Coaching Certification, given by an ICF or IAC approved training provider

Certification in Learning Design & Facilitation

Certificates or certifications in Leadership

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

7+ years of experience designing, delivering and managing learning experiences using the Accelerated, Cooperative and Experiential learning methodologies

Strong and proven leadership skills in business, academic and nonprofit environment

Solid experience designing and facilitating Leadership Development Programs in corporate and social environments

Demonstrated experience leading and executing strategic plans for corporate learning centers or learning solutions providers.

Successful experience establishing partnerships with business schools, universities, corporate learning centers, chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, professional associations, and networks.

Solid experience in a business environment with the practical application of essential leadership development, organization development and adult learning theories and models

Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects and initiatives

Successful experience as a speaker and facilitator with diverse audiences

Solid experience as master facilitator or presenter with experience developing other juniors and senior facilitators and trainers.

Sustained experience as an author or content creator on relevant topics.
