Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Project Engineering Manager I or II to support the Oil & Gas business and work in the Houston, TX office.
Position Description
The Project Engineering Manager is the AECOM representative communicating directly with client and leads project team in the execution of the projects. Provides oversight to lead discipline engineers, project administrators, project controls representatives and procurement representative assigned to the project. Manages large and small projects providing overall design coordination. Ensures client expectations and contract obligations are met. Provides Business Development support as needed.
Follows AECOM Project Management, Quality Assurance and Accounting procedures.
Typical Responsibilities:
Working under the supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineering Manager, the Project Engineering Manager
Demonstrates basic knowledge of managing projects of modest size
Demonstrates basic knowledge of working with Principal Engineers and Lead Discipline Engineers to determine man-hour requirements and schedules for each discipline consistent with the project requirements and schedule
Coordinates staffing of projects with qualified personnel
Supports development of the project execution plan and ensures that necessary client requirements, procedures and standards are incorporated
Demonstrates basic knowledge of establishing overall design basis reflecting client and regulatory requirements and good engineering and design practice
Demonstrates basic knowledge of coordinating the technical activities among disciplines on the project and identifying change
Schedules and coordinates engineering meetings (internal and client)
Ensures proper documentation of meetings, agreements, and conversations that affect the conduct of the project
Coordinates the client’s engineering comments, approvals and requests with the functional activities of all disciplines
Monitors adherence to manpower estimates and schedules
Keeps Project Manager, Principal Engineers and Lead Discipline Engineers advised of project progress, performance and manpower utilization with particular attention to delays, adverse trends, errors and omissions
Demonstrates company’s safety culture
Continually improves technical knowledge and capabilities
Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility
Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others
Minimum Requirements
Project Engineering Manager I
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university.
Experience:
6 years total engineering experience in midstream oil and gas process facilities with at least 2 years of this experience in a supervisory capacity.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer
Direct experience with home office engineering, document control and quality assurance work processes and interfaces for an EPC project
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
OR
Project Engineering Manager II
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university.
Experience:
8 years total engineering experience in midstream oil and gas process facilities with at least 3 years of this experience in a supervisory capacity.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer
Direct experience with home office engineering, document control and quality assurance work processes and interfaces for an EPC project
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
Previous engineering experience with unconventional oil and gas facilities <$30MM total installed cost
Previous engineering experience with multi-office execution, including high value engineering centers
Previous field engineering experience in support of construction, commissioning or operations
Additional Information:
