Job Description:

We are looking for an imaginative and dynamic scientist with a proven track record in seismic imaging research to join our Research & Development efforts in the Experimental Imaging Technology team. In-depth scientific skills need to be combined with a sound understanding of the business to ensure delivery of value-driven seismic imaging technology.

Where you fit in

You are going to be a key member of the Experimental Imaging Technology team that supplies innovative technology solutions to the business. The team’s focus is creating superior, differentiating images and seismic velocity models of the subsurface in a cost-competitive way that can be used to find and develop hydrocarbons in ever more challenging geological settings.

What’s the role?

As the Research and Experimental Imaging Geophysicist you support Shell’s in-house seismic technology development by proposing and implementing novel technology solutions, and by testing newly developed technology on seismic data in experimental processing projects. The present business environment requires ever closer integration with the end users as well as the global technology organization. Working within this international environment, you’re going to support Shell’s hydrocarbon exploration and production worldwide by showing us you have the skillset and aptitude to be able to develop, test and deploy efficient algorithms.

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Must hold a Ph.D. in Geophysics, Mathematics, Engineering, and other relevant fields

  • Has significant (5+ years) experience in seismic data processing or imaging

  • Has worked in an R&D environment that focuses on seismic imaging and seismic velocity model building

  • Has a proven track record in innovation, preferably also in integration

  • Has a solid understanding of the fundamentals of seismic imaging
