Position Title Resident Engineer- CEI Highway and Bridge

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Resident Engineer for immediate employment for the Houston, TX office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following in CEI of Highways & Bridges:

  • Coordinates with Contractor, Client, and Staff daily to ensure the project is constructed in accordance to the plans and specifications

  • Maintain proper documentation of the work

  • Prepare and develop change orders

  • Review and check inspectors pay quantities

  • Attend progress meetings and take notes

  • Review and make recommendations on contractors submittals

  • Investigate and prepare necessary design changes to the plans

  • Oversee and develop lower staff

  • Active with local engineering groups

  • Supervise project staff

  • Track budgets

  • Inspection of highway and bridges

  • Work in the field in the weather conditions that are similar to Houston Texas

  • Maintain Safe work environment

  • Maintain/Develop winning relationships with highway & bridge CEI clients

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

  • 10+ years managing and inspecting the CEI of Highways & Bridges

  • Texas PE, or the ability to gain within 6 months after employment

  • Able to effectively communicate (read, compose, and discuss/negotiate with contractors and client in English

  • Knowledgeable in MS Office

  • Experienced in MS Excel ( proficient at developing formulas and some micros)

  • Capable of lifting 75 lbs

  • Willing to work hours on the project required

  • Normal working hours are 7am to 6pm, Willingness to work other times as needed including weekends and holidays

  • Valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excel Skills a plus-knowledge of creating micros, formulas, linking tabs/sheets, pivot tables

  • Experience Construction management of Highway and Bridges for State Agencies

  • Experience in Highway & Bridge- Design, maintenance, and traffic

  • Experience in use and ability to train others

  • BI-lingual in Spanish
