The Senior Application Support Analyst is typically an in-house Level 2 support technician who is a Subject Matter Expert in one or more application services. The engineer is responsible for ensuring the system integrity and data integrity for ongoing successful operations. The engineer will also use advanced support techniques to analyse and resolve incidents that were raised through the Incident Management process. They use defined work instructions and troubleshooting scripts to debug complex issues associated with these applications / infrastructure services.

Support Analysts in Shell are also actively encouraged to seek and deploy new automation opportunities to remove manual effort and to streamline operations.

Key to this specific role is the ability to monitor and proactively report the vulnerabilities and to keep the landscape stable and at, or as near to, zero downtime as possible. The engineer should be able to assess the landscape technical requirements and propose necessary fixes/enhancements. Knowledge of SAP EC add-on application is required to help developers/functional resources identify application and core level issues, provide root cause analyses and the fixes in association with SAP Support and T-Systems. This role will provide technical assistance on cross components across the landscape that also includes Business Warehouse and SSIS interfaces. Ability to use NWDS to deploy custom applications, build XML definitions as per the requirement. Ability to co-ordinate between various technical teams. SAP EC also comprises custom tools and utilities where knowledge of VBA and PL SQL will be most advantageous to help the whole support team deliver the required level of technical support. This role has the latitude to use a variety of data interrogation techniques to improve and automate the system. The analyst will document solutions to known errors to expedite resolution of incidents and perform root cause analysis to minimize reoccurrence. The engineer typically leads testing activities against various changes to the applicable landscape components and coordinates version upgrades as applicable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily NW Portal and SAP EC health checks and monitoring.

  • Build/enhance portal and EC security roles, provide SAP EC access.

  • Configuring Web Services, build iViews.

  • Data query/extract using SQL and XML.

  • Perform data transports (SAP EC native).

  • SAP NW Portal administration.

  • Scheduling, monitoring the jobs.

  • Understand and assess application issues, provide technical assistance to developers, users.

  • Work in collaboration with SAP support and T-systems to support on enhancements/fixes.

  • Plan and instruct/guide with mandatory information to T-systems on core and application patch updates, support pack upgrades and Release upgrade.

  • Pre and Post technical change activities.

  • Performance tuning NW AS according to the application demands.

  • Regular coordination with T-Systems OPS team for maintenance activities.

  • Work in collaboration with GF/P&T Technical Delivery.

  • Monthly, Quarterly SAP/Data Security baseline controls validation.

  • Archiving historical data.

  • SAP Support Portal related activities.

  • Oracle DB performance monitoring, validating SQL traces.

  • DB maintenance activities on triggers, views, oracle jobs.

  • Monitoring cron jobs.

  • Build/Monitor interface connections and data flow.

  • Monitoring systems via Solution Manger, NWA

  • Proactive mindset to identify potential issues.

This role is in the Projects and Technology (P&T) Services and Operations Management (SOM) team, which is part of the ITSO (IT Services and Operations) organization, providing dedicated support and management of key IT operational services to all P&T Business units as well as delivery of IT business infrastructure projects.

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Bachelor's Degree related to Information Technology preferred.

  • Minimum eight (8) years significant IT experience in a corporate setting.

  • Proven knowledge on NW AS Java, SAP EC, Oracle SQL, Web Dynpro Java. XML.
