IBM Sourcing Consultant – Facilities Management in Houston, Texas
IBM is seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals with 6-8+ years sourcing and procurement experience to join our team of procurement professionals. Specifically, we are seeking to fill the role of a Facilities Sourcing Consultant. The Sourcing Consultant leads sourcing and procurement projects using competitive techniques and/or negotiation(s) to select and contract with goods and service providers in Facilities Management and services on behalf of our clients. In addition, MRO category knowledge is required. The role also creates industry and category insights to assist in the development of the client’s category & sourcing strategy. To be clear, this is a procurement role, not a facilities manager role.
This is a client facing role and requires significant travel (75% travel)
Your Role and Responsibilities
Sourcing Consultant responsibilities and preferred requirements include, but are not limited to:
Experience in the purchase of goods and services required to manage facilities for; corporate office, warehouse, and manufacturing. Keen understanding of facilities business needs and how procurement can partner to increase speed to value and cost savings. Detailed market knowledge and facilities thought leader capable of identifying areas of opportunity to drive cost/process improvement and/or increase category maturity.
Knowledge and experience in delivery and pricing models for facilities management, design, construction, facilities services, and facilities maintenance contracts. Experience working with top facilities management firms and integrators and how to spot value and risks in these contracts.
Experience in development of Requests for Proposals (RFP), bidding, and tendering of; integrated facilities management, furniture, design services, MRO Supplies, MRO Services, construction services, trade labor, facilities management services, building systems equipment, and/or other related goods and services.
Client Facing Skills
Ability to maintain professionalism in communications with all levels of client stakeholders. Experience being in a client facing role. Ability to deliver high quality project deliverables on time and with the level of attention to detail the client expects. Proven ability to make/show progress by proactively making decisions and taking action.
Client Relationship Management
Proven techniques and the ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with Clients. Experience dealing with challenging stakeholders and clients to meet and exceed expectations.
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Experience driving on-time results on projects with moving targets and disperse stakeholder groups.
Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to present information to groups with the appropriate degree of formality.
Ability to utilize data to sort through and analyze enterprise data in order to gain greater insight into trends within a business, industry and Client’s spend.
Accuracy and Attention to Detail
Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy with a high level of detail.
Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Understanding of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning and ability to apply organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Purchasing Tasks and Activities
Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously. Knowledge and ability to utilize project management skills to document and drive compliant processes within the procurement cycle.
Strong knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
Baseline Creation & Savings Analysis
Knowledge of and ability to create baseline and savings analysis for procurement project. Also, knowledge of savings methodologies and how to calculate savings for each methodology.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Excellent client-facing skills.
Minimum(6) years experience in procurement consulting or procurement business process outsourcing industry.
Expert knowledge of the 7-step sourcing process, category management, strategic sourcing, tactical buying, procurement operations, contract management, risk management & supplier relationship management.
Demonstrate proficiency in leading teams supporting complex scope of services for clients & have management experience.
Facilities, MRO and D&C Category experience required.
Work is performed at client locations (domestic and/or international), high travel is required each week (75%).
Must have a proven track record of leading & managing sourcing teams both on shore & off shore.
